Viewing figures are better when Woods is playing though, so sure, golf can survive, but it's not as popular. Look at the 2015 Masters viewing figures for example, they were up 48% on the Saturday and 26% on the Sunday compared with the year before when Tiger wasn't there. 2014 was the lowest rated Masters tournament since 1993.
Yep in the US the figures do increase when Woods is playing - that's not a new scenario , as I said earlier there are a good number who only watch golf when Woods is playing especially in the US. I don't think it makes a difference in this country or indeed Europe because i reckon ( just an opinion ) that the golf fans in Europe just want to watch good golf - they have their favourites but we all still watch golf. I don't believe it's the same in the US
