Tiger cheating!

What does me is that he knows the rules inside out but his attitude towards basic golf courtesy stinks when his game has gone a bit tits up. He is a role model to millions and when they see what he does eg spitting on greens it comes across to some that he can do it so why not us.

having said that, I cannot think of any other sport where viewers can call tv stations to ring in something they have seen and players are then later fined, docked shots or disqualified. There are times when players do make genuine mistakes. Even today, a player hit another players bag with a ball, and the commentators stated he had a two shot penalty only to state later it was only a penalty if he hit his own bag. We all make mistakes but slack standards need tightening whether it's tiger or not.

As mentioned Tiger has done this for years (not consistently but often) I don't like it as a practice but I haven't seen anything to indicate the ball isn't replaced in the correct place

And no golfer replaces the ball exactly where it was anyway unless by coincidence/good fortune. If it really mattered to get it back in the same place we wouldn't be using the convex edge of circular markers on a spherical object, we'd have something closer to the marker used in snooker

Edit to add:
I think the word exact is even used in the R&A rules and if so I'd suggest the most breached rule is not giving advice but is actually playing the ball from the wrong spot!

Quite a few players "throw" their markets down, push them towards the ball with a finger - seemingly in one motion.

Tiger also has a habit of rolling his ball away from the marker before picking it up. We know this because it was looked at as if he was testing the surface, which was decided as nonsense.

The still shows nothing, the video would need to be seen! Anybody have it on Betamax?

Showing my naievety and apologies if it has been mentioned but what's the ruling if tiger/ anyone lobs there marker down and it hits the ball. I know it can happen when placing your marker but surely you have more chance of hitting your ball when lobbing your marker.

He knows the cameras are on his every move, the only reason I picked it up was because he just threw his marker down and I thought that looked strange.

I thought exactly the same whilst I was watching it.

Shame the camera didn't decide to watch him replace it. Whilst I like him.... I can't stand the 'attitude'.

See I'm not convinced the likes of Woods and McIlroy do know the rules properly. Certainly McIlroys recent penalty for standing on the edge of the hazard and not taking full relief would indicate not. I assume Woods either isn't aware that replacing further away is a penalty even though no advantage is gained or thinks he has some sort of immunity because of who he is. Golf and sport isn't bigger than one person and so if it can be proved then he should be penalised. Watching on TV and not seeing the whole episode is inconclusive.
