Not with him though.... but the 3 lady coffin dodgers that kept us waiting 10minutes on the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th without even looking back over their shoulders, knobbling the ball 10yds each time. I was feckin' FUMING inside and would have shot all three of them law permitting. Once we were through we didn't get near another person on the course all the way round even though we were racing along.

What is it with crap players not even considering that their crapness/slowness might be holding up people behind?!!

One of the women could barely hit the ball!!!!!!!!! and the others were the short side of 50yds with most of their shots!

Is it bad etiquette to punch an old woman in the back of the head on your way past? Can't find it in the rule book

Oh, and well played Craphacker :D :D

Sounds a reasonable course of action

Or you could tell the guys in the pro shop and ask them to explain the etiquette side to the ladies.

Obviously put you right off, coz you got creamed buddy

Fragger

I gotta get more balls... literally!

All the women were sitting in the clubhouse afterwards and I really wanted to storm in there in front of them all, go nose to nose with the stuck up cow (the ringleader of the aforementioned 3ball) and shout "What the feck are you doing on a golf course!!".

I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky kinda guy normally.... maybe it's just stress...... where's that chocolate?...

Oh dear just one, give the shrink a call and ask fir assistance with your issues, but seriously we always play with a standard rule:

If we have a clear track in front and hold the group behind for two holes we wave them through

Chris if for example we are both 4 balls and we have just had a mere of hole then it's pointless in my opinion letting a group through who will only play at the same pace. We do always keep eye on how fast the group behind are playing if they are catching us then we obviously let then through at the earliest point ;)

This could really help in speeding up your thoughts about quitting,do yourself a favour and stay away from women for a while. What took you so long to ask to play through?

I think all golf clubs say that if you lose a hole on the group in front then you should call those behind through!

That's a little difficult to judge when there's no-one in front of you though.

It wasn't 7&6, it was only 7&5

He's always fibbing,

Interesting point here.

The ladies had the tee booked until 11.15, but they got away miles before then, so the pro reckoned they would be well on the way by the time we started at 11.20.

Said 'ladies' thought of themselves as part of the ladies section, but there was some 'discussion' whether they were part of the actual medal, or not.

We caught up with them on the tee of the 4th - they were about 80 yards up the fairway, on their 3rd or 4th shots ( genuinely ). I honestly expected them to wave us through.

On the tee of the 5th we were waiting, whilst the last of the ladies medal groups walked across to the 9th tee. ( it's funny how so many of the ladies members wave at Jamie as they are wandering around the course. And of course, he waves his member back at them - popular lad, I see )

One of these ladies say the group in front are not part of the medal.

We are kept waiting until we approach the 6th green, which has the 7th tee alongside, so after hitting the green from 130 yards ( thank god ) I wander over to the tee to leave my bag, and chat to the ladies with my best false smile on.

Nice weather, lovely day, and do you mind if we play through.

Their immediate reaction was that no we couldn't because it was ladies day, it was a ladies medal, and we had encroached on their tee time.

After a charm offensive they reluctantly agreed to let us play through - it took up about 2 minutes of their 8 hour round, and they never got within 200 yards of us again. ( BTW we both blobbed that one we were so peed off ).

After we got through, we were playing pretty quickly, because we both had commitments, and we were a two ball following ladies 3 balls.

We never got within sight of the rest of the ladies. That's how much time these three had lost.

Now, I can understand the ladies want a protected tee time.

I can understand that during their medal they wouldn't want us charging through the middle of them whilst they are plodding along if all their groups are toe to tail ( I don't agree with it, but I understand it ).

But said group, even if they were part of the medal, were 3 holes behind, after playing 4 holes.

Surely, for the sake respect, the ladies captain should have a word with these women and let them know that the etiquette is to let people through.

They honestly felt they were in the right, and they should have the course for as long as they wanted, just because it was a reserved tee for the ladies for a couple of hours.

I know we don't have the largest ladies section here, and I know we're not always the most forward thinking on groups. But I just cannot see how we should be expected to play an 8 hour round, just because the group in front claim to be in a reserved timeslot.

What do our ladies think?

Oh and btw.

Jamie started the round by draining a 40 footer on the 1st to go one up.

We both got bogey on the 2nd, but my shot means it's level.

3rd is a par 3, playing short because of work being done on the tee. My birdie ( gross ) wins it - 1 up

Then the reason he reckons he lost - taking away all my thunder ( the git ). The 'Hold Up Holes 4, 5, 6, 7.

4th - I par - 2up
5th - Toughest hole on the front 9 - bogey net par - 3up
6th - Par 5 - we both played lay ups to keep as close to the ladies as possible, so they didn't forget we were there - 2 safe pars, means my shot gives me the hole - 4up
7th - 175 yard par 3 - two pars means Jamie manages a half.

Ok he was peed off and played that stretch poorly, but for me, any stretch of holes going birdie, par, bogey, par, par, is going to be tough to beat.

We both blobbed the 8th. God they were REALLY annoying.

But now the ladies are out of sight, so we can play proper golf.

9th - SI1 - I had a safe bogey. He missed a 5 footer for par - 5up
10th - I three putt, but have a shot, so Jamie's par is for a half.
11th - I find the trees off the tee, clatter my way out, and end up on the fringe for 3. Jamie plays immaculately onto the front of the green for 2. I hit my best putt of the day dead, so suddenly he needs to hole out to win the hole, a half is no good. A raced putt, missed the 4 footer back - 6up with 7 to play.
12th - I flap a poor shot short and left behind a bunker, Jamie plays an immaculate shot 8 feet over the hole. My chipping works for once, leaving me a gimme - he lipped out. Another half. Dormie
13th - Jamie hits a slight push, which with his length means it's in the middle of a LOT of trees. A lost ball means I can win the hole with a double bogey, net single bogey.

7 & 5.

He claims that it's the ladies' fault. He claims that he was in pain, he claims that I'm a tosser, and that it wasn't his fault.

But I don't care.

I played well.

And I'm claiming another one for the high handicapers.

:p

PS I still only got 37 points. It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to hit 28-32 points without playing badly, but even when I'm playing out of my skin, I just about scrape 36 or 37 points. I find this game blimmin tough - I don't care what anyone else says.

Next time, instead of being charming to the ladies when you have caught them up, just ask them if they're likely to be giving themselves a 2 stoke penalty for slow play. If they say they're not then suggest politely that they remove themselves from the course unless they're prepared to abide by the rules of the game.

Letting people through isn't just etiquette. It's a rule. We're the only game in the world where etiquette IS a rule.

Most bampots (including many on here) forget this nowadays.

Leftie wouldn't catch them anyway, unless he can dial a faster speed into his hip, and if you got through them they would catch you up on every hole when you stop for a piss.

Careful. Some people here believe everything they read :p

Besides,... I said w*nker not tosser! :D :D :D

Smiffy says he's got a £10 note and he's willing to take you on. Even my mate at work says he's got a chance. What happened to that silky swing I saw back in the Summer as you creamed it around my place?
