Thought's on this

Not realy sure what answer you want ? Did you damage your driver ? do you think they are responsible ? the 4 iron shots must have been close if the driver hit it .. , if it was me id see it as my own fault been honest .

Im not asking for the answer im asking what your thought's are.

Sad to say but he may have if you damaged your club, then moved the mat to prevent further damage to your kit why would the next person in the bay need to move it again. This ust proves that each person has their own swing and should check clearance prior to practising with the big dog or any other club.

You wouldn't take a shot close to a tree on the course without first checking the clearance to prevent damage.

I've knackered a club, completely snapped the shaft, and as I realised I should have checked, never even approached the staff at the range. Just made me realise that I must check every time I go to practise, unless the bays are huge.

Most ranges also have some small print to the effect of damage is your own fault.

The guy in the next bay was in the bay i damaged my club in. The mat was still in the same place

My thoughts are that it's a feckin' disgrace, I've seen [heard the sound] this happen LOTS of times. Don't know what the solution is unless you a) have no pillars b) have mats you can't move c) have some kind of staff member walking up and down the place.... and huge warning signs...

Just another way to cram as many people as possible into the smallest place.... like car parks!

Some places DO put padding on the posts.... not that it really helps when you've snapped the head off your mates driver

Would love to hear that you took them to small claims court.... don't know if that's even poossible and may be costly just to find out.

I've did this on a brand new 5 wood because the user before me must of been left handed. The didn't give a toss. We've both learnt the hard way.

I'm left handed and I am fed up having to move the mat so that I don't risk damaging my clubs........

I'm even more fed up with golfers standing, in dirty shoes, where I wish to play my irons from the mat - this inevitably means that the grit from their shoes results in scratches on the soles of my irons.

My initial thought would be oh s##t but at the end of the day your responsible for making sure you have clearance for your clubs,

There are signs up all over the place at the range I use.

Well i'll post up here what the out come is but going by what most of you guy's think i wont be holding my breath for a good outcome

Im buying a 910 d2 this week lol

Why are you dumping the RBZ?

On the OP; The range that I would use regularly has the benefit of having the automated balls/teeing so it doesn't really so the mats cannot be moved. The bays are nice and wide. However when visiting another club or range I'd always be sure that none of my clubs would be in danger as they are very precious to me!

Ive used this range for year's on and off .They did have an automated teeing system in place but dont anymore. Ive never had to move and mat in my life on any range so didn't think anything of it.
And as for dumping my rbz im not yet .
I had a go with a friend's 910 d2 and hit the ball longer than i did with my rbz
and to be honest if i can get any extra yard's with a driver then i'd change in a minute.
i guess im lookng for a magic wand like most golfer's.

My thoughts are you should have checked first. You can usually get a feel when you stand on the mat how close it is to the edges of the bay. Similarly the next guy should have done the same thing. I don't think the onus can be put on the range guys to go out and check the mat after each person has moved it.

The range I use in Maidenhead has the mats screwed to the floor. Much more solid and they have the artificial grass sections on both sides of the mat so left and right can use them (both sides have tees in too). Positioned with more than enough room to swing both ways (ooo er missus) without a problem.

I told the guy at the range about my problem with the mat
and yet he still didn't move the mat and another guy went onto
it and if I wasn't next to him he more than likely would rapped
his driver around the pole as well . Why not replace the mat to
where it should have been after getting a complaint about it 20 minutes
before?

How does he know if the next guy is going to be left or right handed?

I don't really understand how anyone can blame someone else when they swing a club and hit something with it.

I can't see you getting any joy for the club, but it wouldn't surprise me if they gave you tokens/credits for half a dozen baskets of balls as a goodwill gesture, even though imo they have nothing to be blamed for.

For me if i was buying something or paying to use something i'd expect it
to be ready to use and not be expected to move myself before i use it.
If it was where it should have been there wouldn't have been a problem.
it's nothing to do with the way i swing the club

And as for left or right handed the mat only sit's in one place but i guess these mat's will be different to what you use eh

Why didn't you move it yourself? Or place something in the bay till it was sorted to stop other folks using it . Then complain to the range manager as to the problem .
