I have been putting some thought into this and it has not been easy coming up with a decent venue.

Original plan had been a double bill of Muni courses in Peterborough, Thorpe Wood and Orton Meadows but congestion at Thorpe Wood and 5 hour plus rounds ended that idea.

The next thought was a Grantham double bill of Stoke Rochford and Belton Park. Problem here is that I can only really do this at the weekend at the moment and both only take members and guests on Saturdays and Sundays. Also not confident of getting on at Belton as I am not a member and suspect that it would be full society rates at Stoke.

Next option would be a resort course, either Greetham Valley or Belton Woods. Problem here is cost. Not likely to get a deal so looking at full daily rate. Both do have 2 courses though so remain an option but not a cheap one.

So,after that long diatribe about the options I have discarded, I have come up with one possible proposal but wanted an idea of interest before I start putting details in place. The thought at the moment is Rutland Water, a course I know well. The club has a challenging and interesting par 3 course then a good full 18 hole course. I would suggest a par 3 comp in the morning to warm up (perhaps with reduced club numbers) then a full 18 after that.

The pro up there is very accomodating so I may be able to get a decent price on the 2 rounds plus the usual bacon roll and coffee.

Anyway, post if you are interested in general and I will then make an approach with rough numbers.

Last meet I played in up in Grimsby, the prize was the Golden Chipper, as I won it I have to arrange the next meet where it is played for.

Lovely setting for a game of golf.
I played there in a society day a couple of years ago and I think it was around £40 for 9 holes on the par 3 course, bacon roll and coffee, then 18 on the full course.

Most recent society rates on the web site are quoting an example of par 3 course, sandwiches and chips then 18 holes on the full course for £25.00. Anyway, this sounds like it could be a goer so I will get up there and talk to John the pro up there asap. Keep posting if interested and I can get an idea of numbers then use that the negotiate a rate.

OK, I will start working on dates and pricings. I have emailed the club this morning to see about fitting in a booking of 12-16 people for a round on the par 3 followed by a round on the full course with food in there somewhere as well (depending on start times was thinking about bacon rolls and coffee as you come off the par 3 round). Will let you know what I come up with asap.

Looks like I am arranging my first meet.
