Been looking at some new irons for a while now and from the pics at least have pretty much decided to
go with the new titleist...

712 cb 4-6
712 mb 7-w

Do you think they'll make a good combo set or should I just choose one model and run it 4-w straight through?
Does anybody know if the lofts are the same in both models.

Obviously this all depends on me liking them after hitting them later on this month but i love the current 710's.

Combo or straight through??

You need to get them on a launch monitor, because the CBs should launch higher for the same loft due to the c of g being lower. This means that either the CBs or the MBs will need tweaking to get a consistent yardage gap.

Titleist used to sell the bladed versions of their clubs with different lofts to the cavity versions for this very reason.

You can check the lofts on the Titleist website. They are unlikely to be more then a degree different, so I can't see why this wouldn't work well.

You can also do the same a hybrid set of Mizuno MP69 and MP63, or 63 and 53.

I know since my 690's were made (nearly 10 years ago now) that titleist irons tend to be a degree stronger these days.
Interesting about the c of g and makes sense. Definitely needs time on the launch monitor and had that planned to make sure I get the right shafts.

My old pro who I played with in a pro-am last month has exactly this set up, he had to have one of the lofts adjusted to regulate the gaps in the middle but otherwise hes as happy as could be with them
