Things you like to see done on the course

When people stop walking when your playing a shot, I do the same a lot, it's only being polite.

I hate it when you do this though and people don't acknowledge it.

I like to see some wild life. Dear are good, but I don't mind rabbits either, or raptors. I quite like alligators, but not necessarily in Watford.

  • Being polite and courteous
  • Bunkers raked
  • Divot repaired
  • Pitch marks repaired
  • Good shots acknowledged
  • People helping each other look for or point out errant balls
  • well maintained rough areas
  • Busy green keepers
  • Green greens
  • Players wearing really LOUD clothes

Great looking totty in tight shorts and tops! Sorry I know not in good taste but I'm a red blooded male and love to see ladies on the golf course. It brightens up an other wise predictable day! Unfortunately they are as rare as rocking horse poo at my course except for one....;)! Personally she can take as long as she like over her putts!! :)

Wildlife for me too although we do get relief on one course if a monkey nicks your ball and crabs on another
(that's if a crab nicks your ball not if you get cra...oh you know what I mean)

I like to see people being curteus on the course and being aware of whats going on around them. Acknowledgeing people on adjasent hole, not being too self absorbed in their own game between shots, taking care of the course should be a given for me (replacing divots, pichmarks etc) .

I'd like to see people not act like the professionals act, especially when reading putts, did you really need to read that putt from a 360 angle, line it up three times and spend 10 minutes agonising over a break that you don't know how to read?

just to miss it by 7 foot anyway?

And even if you had made it, it would still have been for a triple bogey...

Acknowledgement of fellow memebers as you walk the course. Even if you're having a bad round it can lift your spirits.

Watching the better players strip one away down the fairway, that way you can watch their technique.

Sportsmanship in a match.

I was in my first round summer singles the other week. Gave the other chap what I though was a 12 inch gimmie, but it was still moving just. It then accelerated down the hill to 10ft! I felt obliged to still give it to him as I had said it out loud (my own stupidity for not waiting for the ball to stop). He says, you'd never have given me that if you knew it would finish there and he insists on putting it. He misses it and we half the hole. No bad feelings at all. He really didn't need to do that. The whole match was tight and competitive, but played with great enjoyment and sportsmanship. I lost 2&1, but really enjoyed the match.

He can't do that. It's against the rules. Once a putt is conceded, it cannot be withdrawn, and he cannot not accept it.

Never had a problem with sportsmanship in matches, at least never within comps at my own place but played some right old rules gestapo and some real nasty "win at all cost merchants" away from home.

When the group ahead recognises that you are playing a match, when they are not, and they let you play through or stand aside on the first tee.

Members greeting the club captain with a 'good morning/afternoon Mr Captain sir' :)
