Things That Gladden The Heart

Did a 25km walk around the Gower Peninsula yesterday with Ultra Challenge. Done a few events with them and they are always well organised and great fun but this was the first time they have done this walk. Scenery was spectacular, up on a ridge with amazing views and then along the sea - dunes and cliffs. Really stiff today and a couple of blisters but probably nothing compared to the nutters who did 100km in one go. Saw one go past our apartment yesterday and he said he still had 35km to go - he had been going about 14 hours at that time!

been off 2 weeks, did a load of gravel riding. longest was out along the Great Glen way to Fort Augustus. on a day it was 30 plus. not too bag going, but coming back was a killer especially out of Drumadrochit. really step in parts with some big rocks on the path, had to walk at least half the climb as it was pretty un rideable, luckily its only a couple of miles that section. just about 80 miles. totally destroyed me. worste bit was my feet went numb the last 15 miles back. but a great sense of achievement for someone over 60. dont know how i used to do 100 mile road races when i was younger.

Oasis last night at Heaton Park.
Quite simply they were fantastic. The balance between the music and singing was excellent.
Oasis at there very very best.
My Mrs is from Whitefield so have been to Heaton Park a number of times. When you see the size of the place it's hard to get your head round the fact that it was once someone's front garden. And when it was donated to Manchester corporation it was the largest public space in Europe!

He is.
My youngest daughter and David were juniors together, she turns 50 in Oct.
My wife and I always thought he would make a presentable boyfriend. :D

At Broome? When I worked across the road, I had lessons from Barry Sandry. David was often in the next bay hitting balls when not on Tour. Always very polite and friendly.

Started going to a quiz on Thursday nights. Teams of 4 but our other 2 are in the U.K. this week. The quiz is broken into 3 sections, prizes for each section. Mrs H and I won the first section for the 2nd week running = €15. A low figure as so many people are hiding from the heat.

Drum roll… the final section is the biggie! We won it on the tie-break = €150.

Guess it’s steak tomorrow night.

Gateshead Council run a scheme where you can get a free central heating boiler if you qualify under one of 3 criteria, turns out the missus does so we are getting a shiny new boiler with all the trimmings fitted next month 😯
It feels a bit cheeky as it's not like we can't really afford a new boiler if the current one failed but still, never look a gift horse in the mouth 🤣

I'm guessing it's one of the air source heat pump jobbies, is that right? Will your house be insulated enough for one of them? Any issues with pipe sizes ( I seem to remember hearing that was potentially an issue)

Interested to hear how it goes
