To answer the first part, Tash, I doubt it very much. There are very clear rules regarding the use of what is called bad character evidence, and I don’t even know for sure they would apply to the deceased in a murder trial anyway. The CPS will have considered the case against the officer, not pending cases against Kaba.

As for the second question, I don’t know is the short answer. I suspect there are legal issues surrounding it, but I have never heard of juries releasing statements.
 
The comment I heard yesterday, regarding the judge not allowing his character, recent shooting to be mentioned, was that the police officer didn't know that it was specifically Kaba in the car and so that could not have been part of his thinking during the incident.

For what it's worth, I don't think that this should ever have seen the inside of a court but the above is a logical, legal answer to the point discussed.

Exactly and it is a repeating theme in all these stories. If their sons and daughters were such model citizens why did most already have a police record and why were they there in the middle of an incident. Can't tell me it was wrong person wrong place. An isolated case maybe but all these "angels" can't all be that unlucky
 
I feel for the cop and his family, but there were questions that needed to be asked. It has been done in the only way that could make suggestions of cover up and police immunity less likely to take off as a mass movement.
There should be another way to do it, but at the moment there isn't.
 
Spent a couple of days down at Caeverlock on the Solway watching thousands of geese coming in from the Artic.
We have been doing this trip for quite a few years and it is generally a 'should have been hear last week' or 'they are a bit late this year' experience.
This year we timed it to perfection, so much so that on the first day some of the staff were unaware of their arrival.:)

Despite all the evidence that the guy was a gang banger and the cop was entirely justified in his actions the MP for Hackney and Stoke Newington, told the Commons today
"nothing could be more damaging for police community relations" than the idea that the police are above the law.

Woman is an absolute disgrace .

All Kaba had to do was stop and get out the car. But that doesn't suit his communities narrative.

What seems to of been lost in all of this is the fact he actually shot someone himself. At least once. If the guy had been totally innocent I could understand the furore. But he had a total disregard for others lives.

And he shot that person in a crowded bar, with no thought about anyone else being hit as a bystander.
The hyporcrisy of some people supporting him is appalling. He put himself in that position by deciding to carry a gun and use it.
If the Police came politely knocking at the door, asking for him, would the family have supported the Police or lie to say he wasn't in, or try to block their access?
His family should take a good look at themselves. Somebody would have known only too well what he was like.
 
When I split with my ex at the beginning of the year I said I would do things that I had always wanted to and missed out on. Bought tickets for the Shiine festival in Skegness for that very reason before the line up was announced and booked a double room but fully prepared to go solo. Today the line up was announced and it has pretty much all of my favourite Indie bands playing and I have someone to go with as well. Happy days

Jealous. Proper 80s-early 90s line up. Would love to see The Wedding Present one last time.
Only realised when I heard it from my house on its last night a couple of months ago that there's a festival every year a couple of miles from my house with a similar line up. 🤦‍♂️
Roll on June 2025.

Agree, been a while since I have seen them. Love The Wonderstuff live but add to that Jesus Jones, Neds and Jim Bob and that is a great day
 
Lovely day off today

Managed to get 18 holes and lunch in by 12, home by 1230

Cleaned my clubs, shoes and put my hedgehog wheels on my trolly

Then managed to spend an hour tidying up the wiring in the hallway, all extension leads now attached on the wall, wires tacked up to the router and such

Then changed 4 out of 5 beds in the house

All before the kids got home
