Things That Gladden The Heart

I could happily live in Richmond, great green spaces, wonderful little side streets and lovely high street. Only downside I might need a couple of Million to buy the house I’d need 🤣
Similar story around Hampstead Heath. Great little shops and coffee houses. The Heath with its pond’s etc… houses are unfortunately in the multi millions ☹️

"Full of trees and grass"
You twinned with Chernobyl, Tash? 🤣

Seriously mate, do it. It's a lovely part of the world. But make the most of the visit.
The nearby coast is stunning. If you plan on a few days you can stay elsewhere and visit St David's.
We visit West Wales a lot, lived in Haverfordwest for a few years.
Feel free to message me.
If you want to visit St David’s, just set aside an hour! It is tiny, and apart from th big church , there is nothing to see on the city itself. I agree that the surrounding area is lovely and is very much worth visiting.

Yep called in on one of my trip's, a lady friend was the Club Captain there once, think it was first time they ever had a Lady Club Captain.

Great view from the top of the Church.

Day out in London to today with Mrs M, as much as I’m not into Christmas she’s a proper Santas little helper and loves it. So we have done a fair bit of shopping in Oxford St, treated her to some jewellery she wanted in Selfridges, got a few bits for my kids that she knew they’d like. Found a cool little Golf shop called Capital Golf just off Oxford St and bought a couple of bit. Wandered round both Leicester Square & Covent Garden Christmas markets watching her like a kid in sweet shop beaming at all the wonders and buying bits for the tree.

Lovely bit of food in Big Easy at Covent Garden, I highly recommend their Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese 🤤 For putting up with a day of doing what I don’t enjoy she said she had a treat for me. Got the Tube across to Richmond and she took me in the Ted Lasso shop 😍, walked out with a Richmond FC Visor for golf and some other little bits and I even chose a Ted Lasso decoration for the tree all paid for by her , then grabbed a quick coffee from Caffè Nero for the journey home.

It was just a lovely day. She might think I don’t enjoy the Christmas shopping (I don’t), but what she often doesn’t realise I don’t go because I have to despite my apathy towards Christmas I genuinely love seeing her smile and happy that’s why I go along. She’s now tucked up in bed knackered after a long day and doesn’t know I’ve booked tickets to Wicked Part 2 tomorrow for her as a thank you.

Sometimes it's cool just to act a little bit like a tourist 👍

Just got to the hotel we are staying in and then received a regular customer room upgrade.

The original room must of been a cave cause the new one isn’t up to much 😂

Are the bugs cleaner in the new room ?
The bugs are cushty.
It’s the great big rat that just run past us in the restaurant that I wasn’t so keen on.

What has given me the right hump is the reaction by one of the staff who just shrugged his shoulders and said we got loads of them it can happen.

He then got very agressive when I said if it’s no problem he won’t mind me telling the rest of the customers in the restaurant then (we are in a booth thing in a back room with no other occupied tables).

Apparently a manager has been told and will contact us.

They did take 1 drink off the bill though. I think that was more insulating than if they did nothing 😂.
I was eating my main meal looking over my shoulder and the Mrs had her legs crossed on her chair.
We declined dessert.

If I get a manager speak to me during my stay I’ll leave it at that but if I don’t hear from anyone it’s going all over social media I think.

What’s your opinion lads & lasses?

They have to respond in the correct manner and in really quick time.
Naming and shaming is sometime's exactly what is required!
Let us know how you get on. (y)

I don’t actually want anything back in the way of money just someone to actually say sorry that shouldn’t happen.

The waitress was lovely and when we asked for the bill she said she argued with her boss as she didn’t want to charge us, he said just knock off a beer (it’s happy hour as well).

They even left the service charge on which was more than the beer. 😂

If no one approaches me during the rest of our stay I will kick off on departure and be posting reviews and naming and shaming

I'm not an "opportunist" complainer type of customer but I'd certainly go OTT if I saw a rat in a restaurant.
I'd genuinely, and reasonably, demand my whole bill cancelled, for the stay as well, and promise them all hell in terms of reviews and follow ups if they resisted.
And even then, I'd "rat" them out.

Personally I think that things can happen and go wrong.
It’s how it’s dealt with that matters.
The waitress was very good the waiter was a prat
I have been given a free drink (discounted £3.75 from the bill).

We saw the rat after eating our starters and waiting for our mains. I then spent my dinner looking out the corner of my eye and my wife with her legs crossed on her chair.

We declined dessert and had a drink in the bar.

They have reported it to management as there is no manager on site (apparently) and taken my room number.

I don’t think I’ll hear from anyone and then when I check out they will ask. I will tell them what’s happened and I’ll be posting reviews on every social media site I can.

If they do contact me and say sorry then I’ll let it go.
