Things That Gladden The Heart

I've slated it before here .... AS A PLACE TO LIVE.
Visiting ... it's great - go quite often. Never ever stay more than 2 nights though - as I've learned that that's the timeframe after which I start to really not like it.
I cannot say that I don’t like it, but when I go to Newcastle, it’s full of geordies and geordie culture. Same as Liverpool, scousers and scouse culture. When I go down south I just love the accents and culture.
But London, the markets, theatres, stadiums, it’s totally different and unique. It just seems more multicultural, which is not a problem. But that said, am not a City person, and not just London, but I like to get in and out. Me I love trees and grass.

Yes.
My favourite city in the UK is St Davids. ❤️
You know what, I thought you have had a bang on the head. St David’s, 😳 never heard of it. Just googled it and me and Missis Tash are going next year. It looks lovely and full of trees and grass. Just not got round to telling Missis T.
Oh ah, Ave just mentioned it to missis T, she has never heard of it either. Road trip beckons.
Cheers Mr V 👍

Glad you had a great time in London, there is literally no place like it and it’s refreshing to hear someone praise it rather than saying what a dump it is. 👍
Always love going into London it’s really accessible for us where we are in Hampshire and still have a list of family living in parts of it so we visit a lot and I always enjoy it. Everywhere has its places that are a dump but London for me has everything. Culture, Architecture amazing little side roads to wander find little pubs and quirky restaurants.

We will go again soon as we can the only struggle we have it’s Mrs M as much as she loves London gets the absolute fear soon as we enter the Tube she suffers badly from Claustrophobic tendencies so even Covent Garden stated we take the 15 stories of stairs instead of the lift up 🤣

Another City I loved back in the day, Portsmouth. Me auntie lived in Clanfield then Horndean. Had some fantastic holidays down there. Once went to Cherbourg from Portsmouth for the day.brought back hundreds of small beers.😄 Ironically it was the day Hermes docked at Portsmouth after returning from the Falklands. Went into Portsmouth the day after with a Couple of local girls and Missis T. The saior boys were on it bigstyle, the girls were happy I was with them.
I remember on that particular holiday I bought a shed load of new romance clothing from the shops in Portsmouth, the fashion was six months in front of Mansfield. The week after me and Missis T went out in Mansfield and we had loads of people asking us where our clothes were from 😄👍

Gun Wharf key and Spinnaker are still overly parts of Portsmouth both for food, drink and shopping. Sadly the rest is now a little more run down that it ever has been.

Would you consider the Fishguard-Rosslare ferry to extend your trip by a few days?

The place is so enormous though that it’s impossible to tar it all with the same brush, there are plenty of “Villages” in London, as well as plenty of ghettos. However if you don’t like people or traffic then it’s definitely not the place to be.

Just watching the 20+ year old Elvis festival in Porthcawl, SouthWales - one of the biggest outside USA. Brings in 40,000 visitors spending around £6m.
It's a weekend fancy dress party with tribute acts from 16 to 80+
It's a hoot, from the chronically bad to the genuinely good tributes.
But the former rule by far 😂

"Full of trees and grass"
You twinned with Chernobyl, Tash? 🤣

Seriously mate, do it. It's a lovely part of the world. But make the most of the visit.
The nearby coast is stunning. If you plan on a few days you can stay elsewhere and visit St David's.
We visit West Wales a lot, lived in Haverfordwest for a few years.
Feel free to message me.

Just outta interest, what sent you for the biopsies. 👍

I went to the doctor about a couple of moles on my chest and said, while I was there, can you look at these two moles on my leg.
Chest moles were fine but he didn't like the look of the ones on my leg so referred my to a dermatologist.
Dermatologist said pretty much the same and sent me to a clinic for the biopsies.
Biopsies done, and then the wait begins!

New motto regarding ANYTHING about my body, 'If in doubt, check it out'.

I could happily live in Richmond, great green spaces, wonderful little side streets and lovely high street. Only downside I might need a couple of Million to buy the house I’d need 🤣
