Things That Gladden The Heart

A great four days bowling. Lost out in the semi final. Probably my best bowling ever this morning against the Spanish team manager. Then not quite so good against the guy that beat me to the Spanish Championship final - I got a lot closer today - losing the semi final.

Just before we left, after the final, an ‘invite’ to move clubs. No thanks, happy where I am. Followed by, “have you considered coming along to the Spanish squad sessions.” Well chuffed with the compliment, and confused about whether or not I should have a punt. A bit stunned really…
Great opportunity go for it!👍

Go on. You know you want to. It would be rude to say no.

Fantastic achievement Brian, and in such a relatively short time as well. (y)

I have a lady at work who has been with us for about 10 years, she asked me if her 17 year old daughter could do some work for us at weekends to earn a few quid while she is at uni.
I agreed and her daughter came to see us yesterday, just to go through a few things and do necessary paperwork etc.
We did a mock interview type thing at the mum’s request and at the end I asked her if she had any questions?
The daughter quick as a flash asked what was the situation with maternity pay?
Her mum who had sat in the interview as well nearly had a heart attack.
The daughter was only teasing but fair play to her she got her mum brilliantly.

I am still laughing now and couldn’t help but leave a congratulations card on her desk this morning.

Ordered a record from Mexico. Decent price but took 8 weeks to arrive. A bit cheaper than the onky other two available so I had some reservations but took the chance.
Absolutely pristine. Cover looks like it’s been stored in plastic, separately to other records not a bit of wear or split on it. 30 years old and like new.

Only downside is that my plan to downsize my collection by selling loads has somehow resulted in me buying more than I sell 🤦‍♂️.

I had an answer to that one - I digitised nearly every record I owned then sold both of my record decks to stop me from hanging on to the records. Sadly lock down got in the way of selling my collection and I have not got back in to it apart from selling all the Tamla Mowtown and Soul stuff to a local record shop after trying Facebook and Ebay without success.

Received a message from my daughter today that she has now got her Masters degree with Distinction and a Professional Diploma after several years of part time study. Now free to quit her job and work for herself if she wants to plus no more college and consultancy fees to have to pay.

Club I was a member at had the first Lady GM in OZ......her daughter married Gladstone Small,
her husband was a South African and real racist......not sure if she did it to spite him but Gladstone
was a real gentleman.

Second last day at work, can’t wait to embrace unemployment for a wee while 😂😂
My Mrs took a picture of me immediately after I switched off my laptop when I finished. It was a rather surreal thing thinking I was never going to switch it in again; never have another work conference call or any other form of work call or meeting.

Go for it - great opportunity 👍

First squad session today. 4 trialists playing against 4 established team members. Went 1up after 17 ends, just needing to win the last end too for the match. They were holding 1 for the draw when I played my last bowl, taking it off them to hold 1 but with their top guy with a bowl left. He missed, we won. Buzzing! Celebrated with a large g&t…

No idea what any of that means but sounds positive, congrats.
