Things That Gladden The Heart

Double whammy today.
My youngest has lived with her nan & grandad for the last couple of years.
They are fairly elderly and just need someone to keep an eye on them.
We have paid them a small rent to help with her board and it’s a situation that works well for everyone.
She passed her driving test this morning and her nan gave her a congratulations card which inside had all the money we have paid them for her staying with them.
Lots of tears and I love you this morning in our household.
Feeling proud of the young & old in the family today.
I’m sure the boy will be along shortly to burst that bubble 😂

My wife was walking to the library this morning when she slipped on some mud and fell over. No harm done, other than muddy trousers and coat. One of her listening pods fell out and she asked me to help look for them. Whilst she went looking randomly, I went looking logically, looking 360° all round the key areas, knowing that the way the grass lays can be crucial in spotting something. Bingo, I see a white glint, it's the missing pod.

I knew years of looking for golf balls would come in handy at some point  . Could we add this talent on a CV?

I like this story but it says more about your golf than anything else.😂

I'm very helpful towards my playing partners:LOL:.

(those who have played with me know I don't hit it far enough to get into too much trouble off line 🤭)
Reminds me of the time I played in a Gala day.Teams of four from all different clubs.
I was playing off 26 at the time and paired with a 12, 14, and a 16 handicapper.
They all hit their drives further than mine but I spent a lot of the time looking for their long and errant drives, whereas mine were mostly 150-180 yds middle of fairway! 😂

All the chat about beer in the Random irritations thread made me post this…
Having lunch at The Devonshire off Shaftesbury avenue today, it’s famous for its Guinness, and to be fair it was great, but they also serve Bass… it’s been a few years since Ive had a scoop and I was wondering how it would be! no worries at all, it was absolutely delicious! Will be going back soon!

I love an afternoon in a quiet pub, often by myself(miserable old git).

Give me a decent beer(3 max), a pie or a ploughman’s and a good book. Collect me 3 hours+ later and I’m as happy as a pig…

The irritation is having an autumn birthday. So many of them were cold, wet days back in the U.K.

The gladden the heart is for the last 8 birthdays sitting out on the terrace with a mug of coffee in shorts & t-shirt - currently 22*.

Happy birthday Brian.
