Things That Gladden The Heart

Finding a company that does glasses for £9, shove it Specsavers.

I use a company that does basic prescription specs for £6. My daughter always jokes about the number of pairs I have around the house. Their 2 for 1 starts at £39 and you can have a different lens spec in each pair, one thing that has annoyed my about specsavers is the 2 for 1 deal had to have the same lens in each pair. The other funny thing is delivery is charged for orders under £49.99 so I just add a pair of low cost ones to take my order over this.

Two nights ago, when the major planets were all supposedly visible to the eye, I downloaded a compass and, out on my drive, located Mars. It was a faint, pink twinkle compared to the brightness of the others. (I had a little moment of "wonder".)
Can you use your phone to get a look at the rings around Uranus?

Walking the dog up the hill on a beautiful day. Not a breath of wind, cloudless deep blue sky and a slight frost just going off
Saw a flight of birds that looked strange, a few seconds later I was treated to a Red Arrows fly past
On my near birthday as well (y)
This is a useful site to see where they are displaying/transiting https://www.military-airshows.co.uk/press25/redarrowsschedule2025.htm

In my previous career I was involved with working with them (externally and not in the recent scandals). Went out to Greece and USA to carry out work when they were training and on tour. Also got to sit in on the post practice debrief where they were brutally honest about their own mistakes. Also worked at Coningsby so got to see BBMF practising on a regular basis which was a privilege.

She Who Must Be Obeyed was asked for ID in the supermarket today when buying alcohol. She is 42.
Good for her. Reminds me that a few years back, when she was about 26, a gas meter reader visited youngest daughter's house and asked if her parents were in 🤣

My wife looked after my mate’s Golden Retriever yesterday, she’s really been missing our King Charles that we had put to sleep a few weeks back, and with the beautiful weather they did plenty of exploring & squirrel hunting, and then plenty of chilling on the sofa - both were knackered afterwards!

Mrs Slime's birthday today.
Spent the morning walking the beach from West Wittering to East wittering with our boy, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.
Priceless.
We also had a huge, dirty, fried breakfast at The Boulevard restaurant in East Wittering!
Lovely part of the world
