An impressive £221 for a like for like policy. Pressed the buy now button and will be calling my present insurers to cancel tomorrow.

I always find their ads a bit annoying but they certainly are worth checking out. 👍

Interesting. Because of the general price rises, I tried the Compare the Market site, as well as the other well known ones. None got close to my existing insurer (which nonetheless was an eyewatering increase)

Quite impressive Chris but, from recent experience, I've found that meerkats and opera singers don't always have the best deals. Anyway, you seem to have a bargain this year (y)

How does it compare with Bob Mathias winning Gold Medal in the Decathlon at 1948 London Olympics at 17 years of age?
Successfully defended at 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
Or even Boris Becker winning Wimbledon at age 17.

Darts isn't very impressive to me. Very questionable if classified as a sport.

Well done to him, though. Huge fan-base game. I hope he continues to do well at it.

Not to diminish the Darts as I really enjoy it but you cannot compare sporting achievements with a pub game.

One of the few "sports" where you could (and were allowed to) compete after a massive intake of alcohol.
I have a selfie of me and Eric Bristow in Lanzarote. He was enjoying a full English, pint and a fag at 9.15am at a table next to us. As I left I held my hand out and said "Mr Bristow". He stood, shook my hand, took my phone, put his arm around my shoulder and ordered a selfie from one of his, I assume, family, then said "Enjoy your holiday, mate".
Lovely gesture.
He passed within 6 months.
 
Given my reflections on the sad news about Olivia Hussey, I discover yesterday that Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet is available free for me on Paramount+

I am certain that I haven’t watched it since that end of school term film showing more than 50yrs ago when a 14yr old. I’m not sure I’ll be able to handle my emotions…🙄

You are lucky. My insurance doubled last year, over £400 to over £800 and I could not find another company to even match my renewal price with many wanting £1k plus.

I always looked upon it as a rest period - a rest from lifting pints.
