Things That Gladden The Heart

I don't know if this is a gladden the heart or just made me smile because it is so unusual, but, last night I saw two people set up strapping around 3 trees on our estate and practice tightrope walking. Now that is not something you see every day šŸ˜„
Was very common in our parks & open spaces many years ago - so much so that we banned it! (There's a long explanation but upshot was that frequent usage was causing damage to the trees, and the users wouldn't follow some simple ground rules)

Travel insurance. I wasn't going to bother but Mrs Colch insisted we should get it before our holiday to Spain. Now after her recent fall and broken leg I'm happy to say that she was right (obviously not to her face).

Got insurance through Tesco underwritten by AXA and they have been brilliant. Jet2 are unable to fly her home as she's in a full leg cast and can't bend her knee to fit in the airline seat. AXA have taken over everything, giving us a choice of flights home, transfers to the airport and again at the other end and dealing with the hotel to pay for an extra two nights in the resort. Can't fault them at all.

Also everyone at the resort and waterpark have been brilliant with checking if we need anything, getting a mobility scooter delivered and letting us stay in our lodge even though at that point it hadn't been paid for.

I can't believe you even considered not having it. For a small outlay it gives great peace of mind. Glad it worked out for you

Our fig tree is reproducing more that Katie Price this season. The rotten figs on the ground have attracted quite a few butterflies, some of which I haven't seen for years.

The weather forecast for the weekend.
Beer,bbq & music in the garden 😊

HA. We BBQ about 4 times a weekšŸ˜ Admittedly, our BBQ is gas and has a gas ring. To be honest, it’s just an outside cooker really. Pretty much every bit of meat goes on it, tonight being a, new to us, batch of marinated chicken breasts and peppers. Boiled potatoes on the ring, and a side salad. Too hot inside for cooking unless the aircon is blasting out.

Amazing little trooper. I imagine that time increasing will open up a whole new world for her - plus make organising time away from home much easier for you all.

What will be so much easier is just moving around with her. No tank to lug about - either the big one or small portable. Not sure how long it will take to wean her off fully but it just be wonderful to see her without the tapes and tube.

A little clip on the BBC news. drone footage of the Tour of Britain going past our golf course. šŸ‘

Real men cook with real fire šŸ˜

Cycling today. Perfect weather with barely any wind. It's been a rubbish summer for cycling with rain and wind, so hoping to make the most of any decent weather we get before winter.
Got on my bike today for first time in a couple of years to get home after getting rid of car…5miles took me 25mins, and with one long, and towards the end, steep hill I felt that that wasn’t too bad - though I was a bit warm when I got home 🄵

I use my gas BBQ at least once a week rain hail or snow. It has lava rock so I can add herbs or lump wood on top to smoke things if I want.(y)(y)
