The rather elderly congregation of my church today in our AGM voted 3:1 in favour of our church hosting same sex marriages, and we will now apply for a licence…the formality. This has been a good number of months in the discussing and debating, but today we made the decision.

For context, a comparison all on here will understand of the magnitude and, yes, difficulty of the decision is to consider your club having a motion debated over many months on whether to allow transgender males to play in your ladies competitions (the opposite applies equally) and what it might feel like for your club membership to vote at your AGM overwhelmingly in favour.

That‘s the importance of what my fellow congregants have done. I’m rather proud of us.

I feel the game is in safe hands. Some great young players coming through and all seem very personable and likeable.
It needed new blood. The old guard were leaving and a vacuum was beginning to creep in. Alcarez has quickly stepped up to fill that alongside Djokovic and help maintain interest. It's a bonus that he is exciting and seems a really decent guy.

I think Rune of those could really challenge Alcaraz. He's a bit behind him now but has huge potential. The way Alcaraz has put Roland Garros behind him is pretty amazing. I'm intrigued how his team researched and managed and corrected the physical issues that hit him there. He was so strong today but I kept worrying for him all the same.

I don't watch loads of tennis, just bits and bobs through the year, but I don't think any of the current crop will reach the heights that we've seen from the big three - with the possible exception of Alcaraz who looks to be a cut above the rest. We could see him dominate over the next decade. I'm a big fan of Sinner but I think he maybe needs a bit more mental toughness to get to the next level. Don't like Tsitsipas as he seems like a brat and the others have got a few years on him already.

We were looking into it yesterday, since 2003 it's been 1 of the big 4 players winning it.. Murray, Federer, Nadal and anti Vax

Until yesterday the last non one of those to win was good old Hewitt with his backwards baseball cap from Dreamcast tennis days!

Yeah.. and since Federer and Nadal have declined, Djokovic has just been a machine (sadly), sweeping up tournaments. You would hope he retires now that he has the most slams, but he still plays like he's 5 years younger than he actually is, so he probably won't. Would be nice to see Alcaraz going toe-to-toe with him now like he did yesterday though. It's been desperately needed for somebody to do so.

I respect the fact that No vax is an exceptionally great tennis player, but I’m so glad that he didn’t win yesterday. He should have been docked points after whacking the net post.

He gets away with gamesmanship (aka cheating in my book) all the time. Much like top golfers NOT getting penalised on the shot clock. I can only think the umpire didn't see the damage to the post. His exceptionally long bathroom break literally let all the energy of Alcaraz winning set three completely evaporate.

Watched the summary on BBC breakfast and last night's news and, despite covering it, they literally got the context of every emotional moment incorrect apart from that. Terrible broadcasting.
