Had a round this morning and the fog was so think it was like hitting into a white blanket.... literally could not see more than about 50 yds ahead!

Lost a fair few balls from driving off - even when I thought I did a great drive straight down the middle of the fairway... :(

Did get a few pars tho, but was definitely a case where it really helped to *know* the course - and even then it was guess-work as to where the pin was placed.

Anyone else played in thick fog lately?

TBH it was kinda fun - really makes you think - and judging distances without a visual indicator was interesting :)

With visibility that badly reduced I'm surprised you were allowed out on the course. If you can only see 50 yards it's got to be dangerous to be hitting balls into the unknown!

How irresponsible is that for a course to be open in those conditions. Who would be liable if you caused injury or damage to a third party? I am amazed.

Very dangerous indeed and surprised you were allowed out. On a lighter note, I've been losing balls like there's no tomorrow when the weather has beem fine and my drives straight. I see the ball land and bounce (straight) and by the time I get to where I think I should be, nothing. Very odd and VERY annoying. :o

That's the first time I've ever played in fog... we were the first ones out this morning, so nobody in front of us. Thinking about it in hindsight though, I'm also surprised they let us go out. TBH as we were the first ones out, I didn't even think about the danger aspect of it! :o

Before our round, the lady in the clubhouse said it "usually clears pretty quickly", but we couldn't actually see a full hole until 15.

I wouldn't have bothered playing in such conditions. You can't see where you are going and distance perception is going to be out. Waste of time in my opinion as you can't play proper golf. What happens every time you drive it. How can you tell where it landed.

At our club is visibility is less than 250yards it is completely closed until it has lifted.

I hope your club is a members only club, otherwise it would show just how much they are after money over quality of play and moreover safety of players. Very irresponsible

Non-members can also play at my club.

Behind us there were a couple of groups too, so its not just us they let out. My only assumption is that they believed it was going to clear pretty quickly.

I'm sure going to bring this up with them next time I'm there!
