I bet he would be world n.1!

I saw him on a practice round in Crans Montana few years ago and he played at least 12 holes smoking his cigar.

Having said so, I hate amateurs who smoke on the course.

Cigarettes and roll ups - No!
Cigars and pipes - I don't mind, there's a certain type of charm and easiness with them. Maybe it's because my Grandad smoked them?

Anyway, on with watching the Open...sorry, working at my desk...honest!

2 guys I play regularly with, smoke during the round - I have never ever tried a cigerette myself. One of the guys is adamant that he knows when he has completed his backswing as he get a burning sensation in his left shoulder

I think he chooses not to smoke during a competitive round, rather than it being verboten.

Darren Clarke and John Daly both smoke tabs during the round and you see plenty of caddies having a gasper too.

A Spanish colleague was telling me that after Seve's illness there's been a lot of pressure on Jimenez because of his habit. He was photoshopped out of a Seve Foundation advert because he had a cigar in his mouth.

There was a post on the BBC online commentary today that he was even doing his warm up and stretches with a cigar in his mouth.

I can't be sure because I'm working hard but some here have seen that live on the bbc website...

Yeah they showed that on TV, he looked like I was going out for a bounce game not the second round of the open, he's almost as laid back as Freddie Couples.

Tut tut,i see the fun police are out in force again.Jimenez is one of the most genuine, down to earth, most approachable professional golfers in the world,if the man wants a cigar whilst he plays, let him have a cigar.

Why?? :D

Because 99.9% of you throw the butts on the ground and that's littering. But you do the same off your cars, on the Sunday walk in town, going to work. So probably you just find it normal...

Really? That's nowhere near the truth for some of us.
Some smokers are selfish and stupid. Not all.
99% No. 66% maybe.

Can I ask you what you do with what is left of your fag when you are on the course then? I assume you smoke.

Nobody I know would have a snack and throw the wrapping on the ground but most of them find perfectly acceptable to flick the butts in the bushes...

Personally I stub it out then put it in the battery tray on my trolley and wait until I reach a bin to put it in.

Having said that I thought they were biodegradable, whereas food wrappers aren't.
