Well that time of year I think is a waste of money but most women love is nearly upon us. Thought this year I'd actually try to do something nice for Valentines day, usually I hate it for a variety of reasons but I'm committed to making 2013 my best year for a while so why not celebrate it for a change.

Looking at booking some theatre tickets and seeking your knowledge, I know my young lady would like to see the lion king or wicked. So if anyone's seen these are they any good and will I be able to remain awake through them? Or are there any recommendations you can offer for perhaps something better.

Suppose I'd better chuck dinner into the mix to. :rolleyes:

Les Mis is an excellent show. I watched it in Manchester last year and was blown away by it. My Missus is a theatre fan and loves Wicked as well. Have fun...

We were down in London last week for the wifes 30th and we went to see rock of ages. I'm not a big theatre person, but it was really good and would highly recommend it.

If you near London & can get to Phantom of The Opera in Her Majestys theater it will be something you will never ever forget

Miss saigon was excellent aswell

enjoyed both les mis and warhorse.

Was also lucky enough to see 'one man two guvnors' when james corden was still in it. I know he's an a**e, but he (and it) was very good. All new cast now, so can't guarantee the quality.

Most have already been mentioned but my two favourites that have been mentioned are;

Les Mis – a total chick flick of a production but the staging and whole show is beyond epic. I wouldn’t see it twice as it’s long and over the top, but it’s definitely something to see once.
Jersey Boys – If you like music and specifically the music of Frankie Valli, I urge you to see this show. It’s incredible.

The old shows of We Will Rock You and and Les Mis are always worth a visit. Jersey Boys is ok but not among the best I've seen. I saw Scrooge the other day which was ok. Lion King is popular but not great as far as I was concerned as is Shrek. I wish Return to the Forbidden Planet would make a comeback - I did love that show!

Can't normally stand musicals but Jersey Boys was a terrific show. Oh and the wife loved it as well!

Fader. my parents spent a few days in London last year with a prebooked show on the first night. Then each afternoon they purchased tickets for a show that night at almost half price. Might be worth the risk if you intend going to the capital mid week.
