The Warwickshire day out

So the annual day out was on monday of 36 holes with 11 friends and friends of friends. I came bottom of the group last time and wanted to better myself this time around. Well I came eleventh! I was always going to be bottom 3 as the others play off 11-15 with the other two being 20 and 28 and myself off 26. This time tried to play the percentages use my shots and just enjoy myself and it seemed to work, apart from holes 6-9 on the front nine on the kings where I didn't get a single point!! Last time I came away utterly dejected and destroyed by the game, this time I smiled all the way round and felt I played mostly decent but knowing I can still play better! Irons were ok, putting good even amazing for me at times and te driver came good most of the time so plenty of positives to take away and try again next year!

Oh the course was in top condition too, last tome we played the Monday after a big comp and the course was penal with a foot long straight off the fairway etc but had been cut back this year made it alot more enjoyable if a bit wayward!

Glad you enjoyed it more this time round. There's no need to settle for bottom 3 just because of your handicap though.

Next year I def hope to contend, preparation this year was less than good. I was playing erratic one week dismal the next shooting pb's and I hadn't played for a month before as been on holiday and work, think this sort of helped too! Overall I was happy with how I played and as said actually enjoyed myself this time!

I wouldn't lose heart too much mate,The Warwickshire is a grind for even the lowest handicappers because of its length.Even from the yellow Tee's you need to be long and pretty straight to avoid being penalised.
Work out what your strengths are and take them to a course that would suit your game.

Yeah last time there it destroyed me but walked off quite happy this time! Just took utility off te tee on first 5 holes( except the par 3 4th!) of the kings and scored ten points! Made use of my shots to take pressure off myself including a net 4 on the par 5 16th, prob my highlight. Can't wait until next year!
