Mike McCoy's got a touch of the Lanny Wadkins about him.
The guys got a lot of game and a lot of confidence, be interesting to see how he gets on in the majors.......I know Bryson pretty well - he's a real good guy as well a very talented golfer
became this year only the 5th guy ever to win the NCAA Individuals & the US Amateur in the same year ....
sure he's an individual in technique that a good deal to do with him being a Physics major
a 'one plane' setup & swing due to his physics study & reading 'the golf machine'
this as to why his irons are all the approx the same length as a 7i - but to this swing motion technique, crucially, the iron lie's are identical at 69º - ways upright - so at setup with lie & identical length they can be on the identical plane to his left arm at set-up he looks to return to similar plane through impact
iron heads all pretty heavy to accommodate not so much wrist action in this one plane motion (wrist set changes the plane above the hip line) the swing weights are C8, so it's a club head 'force' through weight swing more
shafts are 120g stiff C-tapers
most folks trying to swing these would just hit them real low & right wouldn't get the ball in the air
but he's a real grounded, intelligent, good guy, with a real bunch of 'individual' talent - all characteristics on show for anyone who watched the play on the 18th today particularly how the match ended ......

What got me was one of the U.S. Team measuring the distance to the pin with a laser rangefinder (which were allowed), having a long discussion with his caddie and partner, and then lasering it again in case the green or the pin had moved! And this was on a fairly simple 100 yard pitch shot! Some of the teams were put on the clock, but as usual no sanctions were applied! :angry:If Paul Dunne does turn pro he is going to seriously have to speed up his game otherwise he is going to be on the clock every week.
Just painful to watch.
The standard from both sides was excellent, the US lad Dechambeau looks a real talent. Will be interesting to see what happens with his iron setup once the sponsors hit him.
