I made the change a few years ago from playing competitive football to golf. Having played football at a decent level and usually being quite good at sports I thought I would make the transition to golf with relative ease. I was wrong.

I have started a blog about my experiences of the course, making the transition and why I keep going back if anyone is interested in having a read.

Thanks for the good read and welcome to the forum "Golf God"!

I too have flickered inbetween golf and football for the past 5 years, Golf always comes out on top unfortunately
Hope you carry on your blog, i'm intrigued to read more!

Thanks for the welcome Mate, Golf god is a bit bold but im sure you have hit the shots that have made you feel the same (i just dont hit them very often) :-)

Welcome along mate, good read. I can identify with being good at other sports then being put in your place by golf. I think there are quite a few guys on here how have given up football for golf. Maybe we could hold a "washed up footballers golf day"

Welcome to the forum fella, good read, there's a few on here doing blogs and most are good reads, all seem to have a common theme and that is frustration.
Enjoy your journey,

Good to hear about your exploits! I too moved across from football, again at a reasonable standard, premier division, so just below FA Cup qualifying level, though played in other cups against several teams that did play in qualifiers. Was always an ambition to say I played in the FA Cup, but was never to be.

Also played a few other sports to a reasonable, but not as high, standard so fully relate to the golf analogy, where suddenly you are not even that proficient - especially when you see other, less sporty types, blasting it down the middle of the fairway!!

Thanks for the comments guys, looking forward to becoming part of the community. If you do find time to read my blogs and enjoy them that's great. If not you cant please everyone. Im trying to give an honest assessment of my experience with some humor (I will let you judge that) thrown in
