Evening all....
I played today with a full demo set of Ping i15's standard loft and lie with AWT Stiff shafts....3-PW..
Now 1st of all i have to admit i hadn't intended even thinking of playing Pings for another while at least....Im just not that gone on the G series gear.....

Yesterday i popped into a friend of mine who owns our local golf store and i was just messing about on the launch monitor thingy with an i15 7iron....

So he asked me what i thought to which i replied there a nice weight and feel is softish....
He handed me the full demo set and said take them out tomorrow and see what you think....

Well im back after an eye popping round....I finished with 37 points and to say that my distance control was good was an understatement.....Wherever i pointed these things they went...The flight was perfect not too high and i was hitting the 7iron roughly about 150-155 mtrs...they were at least a club longer than my S2's
:D

I couldn't seem to hit a bad shot with these...Im not sure if it was me or the clubs but i didnt have the left to right ball flight that my own clubs give me...With these it was either straight or with a soft draw.....Im still confused....
I am going through some swing changes at the moment and im aware that they'll take a bit to ingrain but I cant praise these clubs enough....

I know it might only be a once off but for a players Iron they seriously impressed me.....They are pretty forgiving..
The best bit about this is that i can get a great deal on them...About 400 euro for the 3-pw...

Do i turn?

Despite my effort with the i15's - hated them - they are a good club, no doubt. I think they're more mid-handicap than low myself, quite a lot of cavity for a "player's" club.
They'll last a lifetime and if they look, sound, feel and go like they have done then you won't go far wrong.

Just expect some abuse...... :D

I have to agree with you Murg.
I know that they havent the shelf appeal of say the Mizzy's or Titleists but i think that they are more of a Mid handicappers club that some might think.....I put the 7 Iron alongside my S2 and to tell the truth there wasnt a massive size difference....Noticable but not extreme.

And the abuse i can deal with....Each and everyone to there own. ;)

Doesn't the world no.1 use Ping i15s?????

:)

Yes but the world no.1 gets em for free....
And from what i have been told he still hits the old I10's....Ping have them badged as i15's for advertising purposes....Westwood isnt going to change to them until the new year sometime. ;)

I thought he changed at the beginning of the year and a technician had to fly out specially to get his clubs to be same spec as his old i10s halfway through a tournament.

I could be wrong, but the old i10s are not competition conforming for tour golf.

Funnily enough I've been trying the I15's today and agree that they have a great soft feel (for cast irons) and a great flight. I actually think they would appeal to a wide range of players including single figure guys as there is an element of workability in them but with some forgiveness too

Did you have to show your mate your bus pass to qualify to use them??

Chris

Chris Mate,
Im only 35 but to answer your question i didnt ;)
I dont understand all this age related crap about using clubs.
If they get the job done who gives a monkey's.
Would you rather TRY and play Mizuno's or Titleists just cos they look bling in the bag or would you rather burn the course up with a reserved club that may not turn alot of heads in the bag or on the shelf but will kick the arse of whoever you play until your 65 and HAVE a bus pass

Bare in mind now that i mean no disrespect to anyone or what brand they play and i do understand that eveyone has there own opinions but in my opinion Ping are the brand that most are trying to follow...

The Original is Always the Best. :) :) :)

Not sure Charlie.....Probably wrong myself

Im sure someone will put us straight

Isn't there a scratch golfer on here that uses i15's?

It's not the club, it's the person.

I have a sense of deja vu about this thread though kid :)

If you play Japanese blades you will end up living in France, playing at Augusta with rich people and start calling people working class peasants ;). Sounds appealing dont it ;)

Funny that Region so do I    ;)
There definately alot more forgiving than the FG Tours though....That i do know....
Im not sure what clicked...Whether its the shaft my swing or just the club in general..Or that my swing is changing for the better..
I will admit the wilsons do look alot nicer than them though and if it came to the wire id opt for the FG's :o

Aye, me! Great clubs - what a lot of people dont realise they are almost indentical to the S56 for forgiveness. The Maltby index classes i15 and S56 in the game improvement category. It comes down to what you like looking down on.

Since he left the forum, the only person that calls me a peasant now is Bob. :( :( :D
