The Open: BBC Coverage

I would rather watch the grass growing at Muirfield over 7,422 adverts that we get on sky. I would rather hear somebody talk crap even remotely related to golf than " GOO COMPAAAAREEEE, GOO COMPAARRRRREE" etc etc :D

Adverts are regulated on UK TV so you will get around 9 mins per hour

bbc good coverage. I have got the earphones on at work with BBC2 live on the net in the background.

My only issue is the drone drone drone of the engines of that f****g blimp.

Do we really need the pictures from that thing:angry:

At least you guys are watching it. I'll have to wait til 5 tonight, and hope it goes on for a while. Highlights after midnight. Great.

Good to see Peter Allis in good form too - and before lunch too!

A classic remark while watching the 'leprechauns' following Rory - they haven't locked them all up yet then!

Commercial advertising yes, programme previews and promotion do not fall into this category. US series shown sky that fill an hour slot are generally only 42 minutes long hence the endless previews.

Perhaps because the US series are that long?

What a clever lad! The point I was making is just because there are regulations regarding the length of commercial advertising in the UK (9 min?) doesn't mean you are necessarily going to get 51 minutes of programme per hour.

Thanks, that's what my Mum says.

The 9 mins quote was reference to the point about adverts on Sky.

Therefore if Sky (or any other broadcaster) cannot show anymore adverts and the US programme is 42 minutes long are they to have blank screens for the remainder of the hour? Perhaps they can bring back the Interlude showing someone making a pot.

I know that you don't like Sky and you know I'm the opposite

You know I don't like Sky? A bit of a sweeping statement to be honest, I happen to think they cover sport very well. Where I have a problem with Sky is in their awful customer service, appalling sales staff and the ridiculous level of repeats on the entertainment/ documentary channels.

I think the interlude thing would work marvellously well, especially the pot making thing. This then would rid the forum of the need for a weekly whining thread about what a munter Sarah Stirk is and how Dennis Pugh couldn't hit a ball to save his life during US station coverage of PGA Tour events.

My apologies!

I happen to think Sky's Customer Service is excellent. Cannot comment on their sales staff as I haven't had to deal with them since 1990

+1. Watching it at work during my lunch break. Enjoying Curtis Strange as part of the commentary team - dovetailing quite well with Mark James.
