The Open 2025.

Feel a bit for him tbh. Played well during the tiger era, went downhill for a decade and has refound his form in the scheffler era.

Only in terms of winning majors, he’s kept his form through really, personally I think it’s the most impressive thing about him - he’s kept being a challenger at the very top and had very few bad years compared to his peers.

When was the last time the weather really kicked in at The Open? I can't think of one in recent times. Maybe the odd session but not over a few days to really rough players up.

Is that my memory playing tricks? When was the last time?
Last year at Troon it was pretty blowy and a lot of players couldn't handle it.

Calling Harris English as my pick on Florida Sports TV is looking a bit good right now. I don't care what he does the next three days for the bragging rights I have with my co-hosts and production staff right now 😎

I am going to REALLY enjoy Monday's round-up show of the Open 😎 :ROFLMAO:

A very good performance over all 4 days. Great to see the game being played so well. He seemed as at-ease as Nicklaus at his best.
In the last 5 years he has been top 10 finish fifteen times in the 20 majors - winning 4 times. And he is only 29.

Only one other player broke 70 on all 4 days this week. Take a look.

There has to be a winner who wins by a number of strokes or in a play-off.

Notable margins of wins in The Open in recent years

2000 Woods 8 strokes St Andrews
2005 Woods 5 strokes St Andrews
2008 Harrington 4 strokes Birkdale
2010 Oosthuizen 7 strokes St Andrews
2019 Lowry 6 strokes Portrush
2023 Harman 6 strokes Liverpool

This year's winning 4 stroke margin is notable, but not at all unusual.

Personally, I like to see birdies & eagles, not bogeys & double bogeys. And the pro’s these days put in so much time honing their skills that if they have a golden week, especially those like Scheffler, a 15-20 under par on most courses is very doable. There were plenty of mid 60’s scores posted that if anyone had played with the same consistency as Scheffler, it might have been a fantastic last day.

I thought the course had a bit of everything to test the best, and the best man won.

Surely you remember late on Saturday last year at Troon? Having to hit driver into a par 3 thanks to the wind? And this… 🤣

Isn’t a healthy sprinkle of bogeys a good thing? Shows that bad shots can get punished, but it wasn’t like watching a bunch of hackers out there either.

Watching golf where any slice doesn’t matter because you are guaranteed the gir anyway seems worse.

Players were only getting on the green from poor tee shots because they played great recovery shots

I think -7 or -8 par as the winning score is a pretty good winning score

With nearly half of the field who make the cut still being over par 😁

First of all, well played Scottie, a fine performance. As much as we all wanted drama on the last day, it’s hard to begrudge him of the win, he played superbly. Irons/wedges were just magnificent.

In terms of the score being too low, preferring to see the players struggle, I’m not sure I agree. One of the best final days at an open I can remember was the henrik stenson v mickleson final day. Like 2 boxers trading blows in the form of birdies. It was almost, well if you think that was good, watch this!
