That huge 'reveal' had me on the edge of my chair!

You just don't get that kind of coverage on regular Tour events

It was bacon on the sandwich! :)

Just play like Tiger did when he won there and take the bunkers out of play. A lot of today’s pros are too one dimensional in the way they play.
The problem with that game plan is none of them are anywhere near as good as Tiger.

Watching the featured groups stream yesterday really hit home how slow mens pro golf can be. Started watching the Spieth/day group but they were painful - esp day - so switched to sheffler group. One hole he was last to tee off but still spent several mins discussing with caddy what club to hit. No excuse for that.

Watching Rory Rahm rose group later just so much standing around waiting to play. Awful.
I went to the Scottish Open last week, and without the television production team to filter the waiting out it becomes even more apparent just how slow they are. There were times when we found ourselves wondering about the complete inertia as all 3 players just stood and chatted with the way ahead clear.

When we first arrived we walked along the 1st and then stood behind the 3rd green. Way back in the distance 3 golfers stood chatting waiting for the green to clear, suddenly one, Eddie Pepperell, takes out a fairway and lays up 50yds short, which we thought was a bit strange given the continued waiting of the other two. Eventually the green clears and the other two play, both hit woods, both came up short of Pepperell who was now stood up by the green waiting. It turned out the Eddie knew.

It became apparent as we watched, that nobody could reach the 3rd in two which was 600 yards long and into the wind. That didn't stop 90% of the field from waiting and trying. My own favourite was a topped driver off the deck which bounced down the fairway for about 180 yards. It turned out to be the perfect lay-up.

Saw Garrett from Good Good say in an interview yesterday that his honest opinion of the course was that he didn't like it - doesn't suit his game..

No :poop: Sherlock..... You cant just bomb and gouge and therefore you cant score well and you'd be forever in the thick stuff.

Just saw Brian Harman over the ball start waggling...
... left the room to get a cup of tea and he was still doing it when I got back in.
It's like the telly is on a loop.

He can putt for England though. Could be tough to beat.

Have to say I’m impressed and pleased with the free coverage from TheOpen website. Stacks of other features too
Two feature AM groups and same in the afternoon, (shame they’ve doubled up on yesterdays Rory/Rahm/Rose group when there’s plenty more to choose from but can’t have everything I suppose & a bit too much 'dead air scenes' when the TV feed goes to all the ad breaks)

We’d better hope Rory has a good one, they may just pull the plug on the weekend if he doesn’t make the cut ;)

Looks like the R&A misjudged the flat bunker bases, Sky showing green keepers introducing slopes from the edges to the middle.
Wow. Egg on face. But at least they made the move.
'Make them pay for going into a bunker, by pitching out for a shot', probably seemed a good idea around the board table in St Andrews. But they forgot that could mean the only option from the first bunker is i to the one beside it. And from that out into the rough. With a slim chance then of chipping close. That is too harsh a penalty for one shot into the sand. And that not necessarily a bad shot either given the random bounce of links.

Surprised the idea wasnt better tested before making it a feature for a British Open.

Did you listen to the reason why they had added a little more sand at the front ?

It’s due to the wind expected to move more if the sand around in the bunkers and the faces yesterday late in the afternoon go more severe due to player in there and the wind again

There isn’t a huge difference to yesterday and they could be even more penal with a potential to plug closer to the face

It’s all standard bunker work they do during the open

I was listening to Beef's Podcast the other day, they had Peter Finch on and when they asked him for a tip he said something like, he and his guys had 'crunched the numbers' and data and identified Brian Harman as a good pick for the Open. What rubbish I thought, golf isn't about numbers. 😣

Harmon is certainly getting the rub of the green at the moment.
