The most balls lost during 1 round of golf?

I once lost 7 on the first 12 holes of the Lynedoch at Murrayshall, I had to beg a shady Maxfli from some old boys on the 13th tee, my how they tittered! I then managed not to lose it over the next 6 holes, so not a total blow oot!

I played braid hills in Edinburgh about 20 years ago. I shot around 8 over par. I figured that now I knew the course, I could really go low. Next day I lost 14 balls.

Don't know the highest total I've lost in a round but I once put a brand new sleeve of Pro V1s into the railway alongside the 1st at Prestwick, one after the other. Took me 8 holes to recover. Then I came back in 34.

Crazy game.

PNWokingham lost about 20 when he played with me and Smiffy at Cooden Beach a couple of years ago.... :o
Don't exaggerate Rick, it was about 18 - and, over 2 rounds! I remember losing two off the tee on 1, 2, 8 and at least 2 in-between - 10 or 11 in 8 holes from memory and it was a nice combination of snap hooks and horrible fades! I will get my revenge this year - an easy course if we stay in play!! I was down to my last ball on the 10th of the final round when I lost the provisional and luckily found the first - and came home in 20!!

I had a similar horror story at Hillside last year - must have lost 5 or 6 balls on the front and scored about 9 but came home in 21 with no losses!

Myself about 5-6.

But did see a chap lose 7-8 ( not totally sure ) on one hole.

He wasn't a bad player but playing the 8th at Rushmore, down hill to pond, he was just about to take his 3rd shot when his stand bag fell over (for the third time in the round) he lost his cool and booted the bag twice, then got back to his shot.

Thing was after his second kick at the bag a pocket come open and his balls started to roll out, looked like a line of ants, heading to the pond, had we not been laughing so much we would have told him.

I think he managed to stop one or two but thankfully it did stop him from losing his rag again for the rest of the round.

I found 11 balls yesterday :) (i left 2 Top Flites where they were laying) Of the 11 it would appear that Callaway (5), Srixon (4) and Dunlop (2) seem to be the most popular choice of ball.

Ah Mr Nash! I distinctly remember you saying something very similar when you arrived at my house the night before the game.
Based on the fact that you had arrived early, sneaked down to the club and taken a good look around, weren't you the one that declared (amongst other things) that....
A) It looked fairly open.
B) It would suit your style of play.
C) You expected to do rather well.

I, of course, knowing Cooden, glanced at the wife and gave her that knowing look, along with a wry smile. I don't think you saw her (or at least hope you didn't) mouth the words "He's a knob" to me.
:smirk:

I can't remember my own 'best'.

A mate of mine went with a team to Australia playing pool, and on one of their days 4 of them went to a golf course.

Having taken no kit they each hired clubs, and bought a couple of dozen lake balls to use between them.
The first hole had a lake in front of the tee, and they had to go and buy more balls before they'd all made it to the fairway!

i lost a whole box in a medal at Tain a few years ago. i only played 8 holes before walking off after the worst dose of shermans ever. didn't miss a fairway either with my tee shots, 28 over :(
