Anyone see the new BBC1 drama The Missing on Tuesday night featuring James Nesbitt ?? It was part 1 of 8 and has all the makings of being damn good in my opinion. Having rugrats myself it's was a pretty hard watch at times but Nesbitt was excellent . Looking forward to next week now.

Sky plussed it and am looking forwards to it as it's got very good reviews.

What with Homeland now back on track, The Detectorists, the always brilliant BBC4 music documentaries, Brian Cox's head scratching series and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver there is some damn fine TV on at the moment.

Hell, I even quite like Lewis which is back now. Although not sure why it is now in 2 one hour episodes for one story. Note to ITV, people can cope with 2 hours of TV (minus 20 minutes of adverts as it's on ITV) in one go as it lets the story flow and breath, instead of splitting it up and cramming two bits into 40 minutes a week apart.

Also Sky+'d to watch with my Mrs as she couldn't watch this first episode and it sounded good - though reviews make it also sound very harrowing.

Also watched it last night. I did like it, I suppose the nearest comparison would be to Broadchurch which is not bad thing.

On holiday in France some years ago we lost our (sleep-walking prone) 11yr old lad from 1am to just after 6am. Police searching and dog teams used. Searching everywhere through hotel and local surrounding village; watching CCTV to see if he was caught on camera and who else was about. Very scarey. Worse moment for me was when hotel manager started to remove the cover from the swimming pool - just to check...

In the hotel - in the empty bedroom next to our own :)

Bedroom doors were all heavy self-closing and locking. And as none could be left open the manager decided against waking all the guests. But the latch on the door of the bedroom next to ours was a little stiff and after being cleaned that day the door was sitting just on the latch.

My lad got up at 1am wandered sleep-walking we think out of our bedroom and along to the end of the corridor - turned round and wandered back to our room but instead of pushing our door (or if he did it was locked so thought it wasn't) he pushed the door of the next room - it was on the latch so in he went and got into bed - and the room door closed properly behind him.

Actually my wife reminded me that we lost him from 1am to 8:30am - it was not a fun seven and half hours as you can imagine - I was just like the dad character immediately after his son vanished - hunting high and low in the hotel; in the hotel grounds, and in the parks and neighbourhood immediately local to the hotel with the regional and local police and dog teams. A police search dog found him.

Good programme, hope it stays as good as the first episode. Peaky Blinders is head and shoulders above anything currently on tv though.

finished watching 2nd series of Peaky Blinders last night, best UK tv series in a long long while for me, look forward to the 3rd series :)

Loved The Detectorists that finished last night, lovely gentle comedy in the best sense of the word. Well gone Gareth from The Office who wrote and produced it I think.

Yes absolutely - The Detectorists was absolutely fab. There was nothing at all about it I could grumble at. And beautifully shot - landscapes and close-ups of nature; perfect soundtrack. Just perfect. And a 2nd series will be made.

Haven't watched it yet as the missus got in home late from work, it's on V+ though.
Can't watch it until Monday as we're away for the Cowboys game tomorrow
