The Masters - Is it the best major?

There have been some great finishes at the Masters, many of which have been mentioned before(Tiger chipping in on the 16th for the most unlikely birdie springs to mind) and the course always looks spectacular. It is also the course i would most like to be a spectator at for a major.

There are so many dramatic holes, especially on the back nine. Having watched it on tv for so long, i seem to know all the holes so well, its as if i have played the course.

Is it the best major ? No the Open is, but for last day drama it takes some beating.

For me, the Open is the better major, but like many, I love watching the masters. It is the start of the season for most of us unable to play the desert courses, those of us that have been hacking around the mud baths and snow bound fields that we play through the winter months. Augusta does have a visual beauty that enthralls the viewer, at least it does for me. One of my pals has the good fortune to be there this year, myself will have the odd change of watching it early morning as I'll be in Japan. At least I won't have to put up with that incessant American TV coverage. The Japanese coverage will be all Ishikawa for the first couple of days at least.

A few people have mentioned during the thread that the Masters is the best tournament for the viewer. Its not all about TV.

Most golfers in this country should, at some point have the opportunity to go to a day at the open.If you've not already been, try and get yourself there its a day you won't forget.

Real courses, real atmosphere, and if you win it you've certainly earnt it, the Open is the best major for me.

I do like watching the masters, but theres a certain snobbery about it that narks me off.for instance all the bollox in the 'butlers cabin' at the end. total cheese!!
