Anyone see the 2 hour documentary on The Jam on Sky Arts on Tuesday night, it was followed by a full Jam gig filmed in Germany straight afterwards. It was brilliant and really informative. Wasn't there from the start unfortunately but Setting Sons really grabbed my attention and been a fan since.

No - do they do catch up on sky arts?

was it the "About The Young Idea" documentary?

Saw it last year and also saw the exhibition it was tied in with at Somerset House. The exhibition was brilliant. I have been a fan since 1977, but my daughter who is 13 didn't know much about them absolutely loved it. She now proudly sports a Jam badge on her bag:)

Must have saw them 6 or 7 times back in the day, and probably seen Weller solo about the same.

Yes it was. Just stumbled accross it as "er indoors" was out and loved it . I didn't realise it has been knocking about for so long but glad i saw it. With regret i never got the live experience but have seen Weller on a number of occasions.

I don't think their music will ever age.

There's a piccie of Paul Weller from the Jam days where he's on tip toes launching into playing his guitar. Tis a fabulous piccie, even though its still life you can feel the raw energy of it all.

Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge of how to upload it onto here!

this is not a dig at your highlighted quote, but The Jam are clearly dated, as are a lot of their contemparies....

my question is, who REALLY hasn't aged, in music terms - i think its hard to find any act of the last 100 years that you couldnt put into a decade.....

Weirdly enough, I never got into them at their height as I was only about 10/11 and was more into Madness and Adam and the ants.

However, I was going to a club in the late 90's and they played "Start" a lot, so I got their greatest hits and also got into Weller and his solo stuff. Luckily the missus was a massive Jam fan, so I listened to some of their other stuff - great band, and I also like the Style council.

A lot of the original Jam fans had no love for the Style council.

My three favourite singles of theirs are The Modern World, Tube Station at Midnight and, best of all, That's Entertainment.

Saw them live at DeMontfort Hall in Leicester in the late 70s but can't remember much about it.

Great band.

Got this on skybox.

One of my favourite bands, up with the Who and the Boss. Absolutely my era, I was 17 in 1978. Saw them just once at Ally Pally. Sound was awful unfortunately. Would have loved to have seen them at a smaller venue.

In The City, Modern World, Going Underground, Town Called Malice, and so many others, still sound great, still relevant. Get tingles down my spine whenever I hear those intros.
