The ideal handicap system

Bring back clause 19. Simple.

A slight hijack if I may?

John Smith approaches a golf club about membership and finds out the following about their competition set-up.

1. 1st net prize......A sleeve of balls.
2nd net prize...there is no 2nd net prize

2. 1st gross prize...A pair of Dry-joys
2nd gross prize.....Vokey wedge
3rd gross prize....dozen proV1s
3.You cannot enter the gross competition unless your handicap is 9.4 or less.
4.They still have clause 19 in operation.

Would you
1.Join, enter the nett comps and just enjoy your golf.?
2.Join, and try your hardest to get your handicap down to 9 and then enter the gross comps?
3.Join and complain that the competition set-up is unfair and favours the better golfers?
4. Join somewhere else?

Not join and rant to everybody what a bunch of elitist chaps who savour their own sexual company they are and I'll go where my money is wanted, and if anybody wants a decent round of golf they'd best not join this bunch of inbred blokes who, whilst knowing their mothers', are unsure of their paternal parentage.

I think everyone should play off the same tees. Non of this forward juniour or ladies tees. Was playing at Bolton old links with graham bill and dave the other weekend and we were passed by a number of ladies scratch matches. Most of them could out drive many of us on here, shoot better scores and still play off forward tees. How's that fair. 1 set of tees for everyone and the handicap shots would take care of it's self.

Agree with that Tony. The women at our course not only get to play further forward (which often also produces an easier line to the fairway) but also have 2 of the long par 4s classed as par 5s on their cards. Now I cannot reach the green in 2 on one of those holes but some of the women can for any easy birdie.

we have a weird set up at the course. Up until recently the only measured tees, or so I was told, were the red women's medal tees, everything else was measured from that. but they never played from that tee in a medal (or anything else), only from the moveable reds. supposedly it didn't count as there was only one disc on the tee? then after we had the whites measured the excuse was that the reds are wrong but we only have one white disc and that's OK?.

in the oddball competitions where ladies play from men's tees they get an additional 4 shots.
