So had a lesson today, asked me to hit shots with 7 iron then 5 iron, 4 wood and driver
the usual fade in the shorter clubs and fade/slice with driver.
The good was I was getting good contact on every shot, the bad was the constant fade and the ugly... my posture at address!!!
I didnt realise how hunched over I was. This is the cause for me getting trapped and on the video I saw how much over the top my downswing is... not good at all.
Anyhow we sorted my posture which had my spine slightly straighter, sorted my swing path (the spine alignment made it much easier to swing on an in to out path) and I couldnt believe the difference immediately, drawing all shots or straight down the middle but even better I was getting 150yds with my 7 iron on a 3/4 swing rolling out to 160! My 5 iron was the same, had the odd block and the odd hook but the difference in distance and ease of swing was simply 100% better.
Anyway, I have 3 weeks now of 5 & 7 iron up the range getting this new stance and swing ingrained, Sundays medal may well be a disaster
I went to the course and did some short game practice but also went on 1 of our par 3's, 135yds and hit easy 3/4 swing 9 irons... 4 out of 5 within 12 foot, all a nice draw and 1 just off the green. I did try 4 wood and driver on a par 4 but lets just say I am not ready for them yet
