The dreaded bandit or short game wizard....

I spent £300 quid on golf lessons last year probably £100 on range balls plus £1400 on a golf membership......I win one society comp with 45 and 42 points where was playing in perfect conditions on a fast running course off forward tees. I picked up £30 voucher for American Golf.......I get untold abuse for being a bandit and reported by email by other people......give me a break

Great, thanks both for answering. Hate having a good score and it not doing anything for my handicap.

Just to be clear, it will only be used as supporting evidence. If it is the only outstanding score amongst a bunch of mediocre ones, nothing will change.

I don't think it will make a difference to the " short Game Wizard" he is a member of an Irish clubs;)

Yes it will if we ban them from coming over here and cleaning up unless they adhere to the same rules, if they don't then we omit them all from entering, simples.

The comps they enter - TT and AG and HDID etc won't ban them - and that's the comps they are enter that have the big prizes.

Only one comp banned them the League to Dubai I think did

But in that new addition it clearly states that it's still the player's responsibility to inform his club and hand his card in, so if a player continually cleans up, as we have seen, and we can all see he hasn't been cut after winning a few comps, then this surely allows the relevant bodies to get involved and punish the player directly through his club insisting they cut him appropriately.

That only has to happen once with some good publicity and it starts to get addressed better.

that guy has been winning for the last few years, i bet all the clubs he's been a member of were all aware of the wins, but done nothing. i don't think they will start now.

Glad this is being addressed.

i played a league match against a local club, they recorded all their scores and even putted out in a 4bbb. Said their handicap sec was taking it very serious.

I can't take their handicap secretary seriously. You cannot accept scores played in combination with matchplay.

I'm sure the clubs will hide behind the fact that the player hasn't informed them, but if it's widely published as these events are I think that they will be forced to address it or the club/s will be drawn into the arguments, which I'm not sure they will want to be!

If they (club's) ignore the rulings along with the player, then more pressure from social media along with people not supporting these events will hopefully put enough pressure on them to ban the bandits as League of Dubai has rightly done.

I agree on scores. I think the outcome of the match could be used. A string of 6@5 wins etc could be a good indicator of playing better than handicap.

I'm sure HS have had the power to do something about it before now and the clubs this particular guy has been a member of have been fully aware of what he's won and the scores being shot etc.

I suppose the club hasn't had to think or address it before as they haven't had members complaining as those bandits we are aware of haven't been playing in their club comps, if they had been, then they'd be cleaning up at club level also which then I'm sure they would have had to address it.

I have today received an email from England Golf answering a few questions I asked about non-qualifying scores including different tours, TT, Finch Tour etc,

The Finch Tour, for example, is registered with England Golf and they return scores, the TT is not registered to run handicap qualifying comps and therefore it is down to the individual to report those scores.

Anyone who would like a copy of the email is welcome, please pm me and I will forward it on.

Again it's from Comp under "competition conditions"

Things like TT use their own HC system , same with some of the KO etc which then means it's not under competition conditions

The main thing that could have stopped them is forcing the comps to become qualifiers and making the prizes less appealing

Mid Am tour is perfect example of comps played away from clubs and being affiliated to Congu and able to run qualifiers
