I read with interest the GM Debate (page 25) and I have to admit to not reading the original thread on Distance Measuring Devices (if there was one) purely because I wasnt remotely interested in them.

Its not that I disproved of them, its just that I had no interest in them at all so therefore I didnt feel the need to read the thread (much like all of a few members threads really :D

Anyway, I played my local track with vig on Friday and now I gotta get me one of these babies!!! How excellent is it knowing exact (or near exact) yardages?? The conditions didn't favour us for playing anyway but on one particular hole (the 8th vig) I was going to pull a 9 iron out for my approach until vig told me it was 130yds to the middle, I took out my wedge and ended up pin high and made regulation par.

I rushed home and got shopping on t'internet and have sneakily left a list of them on a sheet of paper inside the wife's laptop case :D

Marvellous pieces of kit and every golfer should have one!

They're better still when the wind isn't messing with your head.
I would be surprised if "most" folks didn't become converts after using one.

I don't want to start the debate again, I understand the die hard anti gps brigade aren't going to be converted.

Or are they? :D

I would love the loan of 1 for a few days and take note of all the distances in the rough to the green as I tend to spend most of my time there!

I cant justify buying one for myself just yet. I will get 1 in a couple of years when then get down in price.

Ban belly/long putters too.

And blue chinos, and navy polo shirts, and stuff from Argos.

And beige, ban beige (incrporating stone, biscuit, etc)

That is the worring thing, I am having an extension built (think west wing, but bigger) and it will have to be magnolia or white ( the only breathable paint colours), so I am in a quandary. I will just have to wear orange glasses when ever I go in there.

Blimey Murphthemog, what am I gonna wear now? :( :D :D

What's wrong with yardage posts and yardage markers in the fairway ??? Saying that i've never used GPS so i guess am a bit sceptical.

Yardage markers are fine until you are between them, you want to know your yardage to the front or the back or you missed the fairway and haven't got a clue where you are :D
Borrow a GPS for a day...you'll love it.

Or, like on my local track, the local chavs nick the yardage markers and move them up & down the fairways on a regular basis!!

I agree though, borrow a GPS for 1 day and you'll be off to the shops as soon as you come off the course to buy one!!
