The death of the snooker room

Played Wallasey years ago .
Casual dress in the bar ,but if you wanted to play snooker you needed a tie????
They leant us two from behind the bar.
Weird.
Even more bizarre whenyou consider that wearing a tie other than a bow tie is huge inconvenience when playing snooker and you have to tuck it in.

What a load of complete nonsense, these types of stupid rules just put people off joining a club....twats

If you're wearing a waistcoat, as indeed you should when playing snooker, then the tie is held in place.

The great Joe Davis advised players to check that their cue was brushing their tie to ensure that they'd got down to the ball correctly.

We've still got one, rarely gets used, so I'd have it removed personally so we could invest in having a decent comfortable bar with more room to socialise, ie drink!

When i was younger I loved hanging around the clubhouse but now I have a young family I usually can’t stay.

I can’t see it being the same until I retire.

Subliminal GM messages but been invited to play some snooker at a private club on my day off on Friday after the Berkshire. Best refrain a little from the beer and wine. No idea where my cue is and chances are its warped to buggery

Ours went a couple of years ago. When we had a new clubhouse built 20 years ago we had to have a structurally strengthened area to take the snooker table. No idea what the room is used for now. TBH last time I played was long before our old clubhouse was closed and demolished. 35 years back, the snooker table was a busy place on Tuesdays, Fridays and the weekends.
