The BMW this week at Wentworth

Just come back from the Pro Am at Wentworth, The course is in beautiful condition and the players were quite laid back and happy to chat with the crowd and sign a few autographs.

Saw Paul O'Hagen from GM and the winners of a comp teamed up with Cabrera-Bello

Saw all the top players in action

A wonderful day with fantastic weather, and it only cost a tenner

Hi there! Can someone explain to me why on earth the pros are paired with 15 handicaps? How did these guys have that chance?

Winning competitions, paying lots of money and being asked by Sponsors basically.....

There's a Pro-Am at most events on the Wednesday before the main comp starts on the Thursday.

Just got back myself what a great day. £10 paid on the door for 10 hours of action, not bad value. I followed Rory for the majority of the morning and then Donald, but managed to see nearly everyone for a little. Must say the Darren Clarke, Sir's Redgrave, Pinsent and Woodward were the best to watch, they had a good sense of humour about them and are all handy golfers.

Yeah I was there today and you get a mixture, the Wentworth Mens,Ladies and Vice captains were out with justin rose. You had some celebs/sports guys out there too and then there were some that Id never heard of so guess comp winners or know the right people. To be honest they didnt seem to enjoy a lot of it - i felt sorry as you coulkd see the prssure of just wanting to play well on their big day, I watched Shaun Micheels group finish up on 14 and one of the guys in his group knobbed it 20 feet off the tee, the into greenside bunker, duffed into the rough, mishit and back down the approach, then knifed on to the back of the green, chipped to about 6 foot and 2 putts...ouch. It was stableford so not sure why he didnt pick up !!!!

All in all a great day and much better than comp days, I was almost inside the ropes for a lot of the time, chatted with some of the players and really relaxed.

Even Monty was laughing and Joking..... Highly recommended!

Agreed, classic moment went Pinsent took a drop on the par 3 10th, he had gone quite a bit left off the tee, Darren didnt know what he was doing and said, 'get on with it, the more you look at it its not gonna get any easier'.

He dropped and hit a lovely chip, a couple more rolls it would have got off the fringe and rolled to the hole-side. Darren walks up to his ball, 'why did you take a drop' .. 'the path' he says. 'No drops here' with a big smile - picks his ball up and throws it to him. Was an amusing moment.

:whoo:

Actually, it was total of Nett Birdies. Sort of Stableford, but supposedly helps pace of play - it didn't 5 hours and 5 hours 15!).

On days like this, Monty is the absolutely best host. But just don't be around when he puts his competition cloak on!

We we probably outside the ropes more often than inside! 11th hole PM was a classic. Drove onto 7th; waited for players on 7 to hack it off tee; Hybrid to 120; 50 yd push nearly took out a couple of spectators but bounced off the tree to 8 feet; narrowly missed putt for unlikely point! :D

Thought I would share a few pics from yesterday.

Amazing day the Pro-Am's. I really recommend it if you want to see the por's in a slightly less serious manner.
My money is Charl, he was hitting everything so straight.

This reads to me as if you were playing. Is that right?

If so... how, why where, who etc :)

Thoroughly enjoyable day yesterday.

The Shotgun start was great as there was always somebody to watch.

£10 was excellent value for money.

Will be back next year!
