Everyday folk have got some great wee story's of their days round. I've just had a great 9 holes of golf with some shots that had me leaping about the course. So I thought I would start the thread which will hopefully grow into an appreciation thread.

So if you land a 160 yard. Iron shot to within a whisker of the tee fire it on.

Tonight's nine tonight was great. I pared all but the 1st and 9th tonight which sent me round in a good steady 40. Been making great progress.

There is a fairly hefty par 5 in the middle of the front nine and after 3 strokes I was still about 75 yards to the pin. Nice PW launched in the sky landed on the brow of the bunker and then rolled to within a ft of the hole.

I fully expect to see a big bad golf thread spawned soon.

Hit a 6 iron into a steep downhill par three yesterday. It landed 10 ft past the hole and sucked back right next to it. Yessss!!!

I hit 3 very decent shots yesterday (for me off 26 lol)

Par4, sliced drive, duffed hybrid from under a tree, 139 yds left (according to the gps) blind flag and over tree's...easy 8 iron & put it to 3 ft and holed the putt for a 4 net 3 :)

85 yds, 3/4 sandwedge over a tree put it to about 3ft again, the bounce was kind but it still finished where intended nailed the putt for a 5 net 4

Par 3, 135 yds, pants tee shot well short, delicate chip from deepish rough, over a bunker and a mound and put it to 4 foot

if only I could do that every hole I would be off single figures

Saturday - 374 yard 1st hole (Stroke 10) - Driver left side of fairway to 80 yards out, sand wedge spun to 8 feet, putt centre cup. -1 after 1 with 3 shots about as good as I can hit. All went to custard after that but for those 5 minutes I felt like I had it on a string.

Charity day golf match, played my 7 ( as it was at the time) off the tee on the 13th thought I had a hole in one, but it stopped 6 inches past, thought I'd also won the comp for closest the hole, but then found out the that was on the 17th upon which I was no where near the hole, or the green, or the bunkers surrounding the green

Whizzed around 9 holes on Sunday afternoon having been watching the US Open and shot 1 over , easy game so makes up for the 13 over in the medal the day before !

Yesterday I managed to (purposely) fade my hybrid round a 240yd left to right dogleg and land 6ft from the pin. It was about the only decent shot I hit all day.

Last Thursday in a Texas Scramble, hit a 194 yard, 4 iron, which passed the pin by about 2ft and stopped about 10 ft away with the prize being a £13,000 car for a hole in one. I was the second nearest all day said the "spotter".

Rolled the putt in for a birdie, won the scramble and collected vouchers for £60 each (4 man team)

Not quite a car though!

Had some good ones on the back 9 on Saturday but the pick... In the bunker on the corner of the dogleg on 17. About 170yds from the pin. The ball had run onto the up slope but this also brought the lip of the bunker into play if I didn't catch it right - the swing had to follow the slope or I'd drive the ball into the lip. The #4 hybrid goes about 210yds but the up slope meant it wouldn't go as far. The ball finished pin high, about 30ft left of the hole, and 2 putts later a par.

Took my camcorder to the range last week and seen some really obvious issues with my swing - mainly I was swinging like a baseball player!

Worked on getting my swing plane a lot steeper and yesterday played 13 holes. Golf is so much more fun when your irons go where you want. Made the green in reg on 5 par 3 holes and also the 3 par 5's.

On our par 3 13th on Sunday was faced with a bunker shot at the bottom of the face of the bunker which i could just about see over and managed to land the ball about 2 foot from the pin which i was really happy about but then two putted for a 4.

Yesterday, on the short game area at my local range, practicing some approach shots from around 25-30 yards, and holed out.. Twice :-) nothing major and there was only me there to see it, however, I've only been playing a couple of months and was smiling from ear to ear for a long time afterwards :-)

My last round was on the Sunday. The pick would have to be a gripped down 4 wood approach into the wind from about 200 that went arrow straight, pitched on the green and stopped within about 15'.

Left the 20' putt 6' short but made that one for a par.
