Well had a trip to The Belfry yesterday for a driver and my mate had an iron fitting. I had been a few years back for an iron fitting so I knew the whole experience was good.
Once again yesterday the young lad was great and after hitting Cobras, Pings (x2), Taylormade (x2), Titleist, Nike and Callaway it was down to the Titleist D2, Callaway Razr Hawk and R11.
The Hawk then got knocked off the list as the ball flight wasn't as consistent as the D2 and R11.
So it came down to personal preference as the D2 and R11 had very similar stats. They also added on average another 15 yards of carry (224yds compared to my 209yds with the R5).
Turns out the standard stift shaft with 10.5 degrees of loft was correct for me. Also interesting to actually see the swing spend and ball speed I was around the high 90’s for swing speed and 135/140mph for ball speed and averaging around 1.4 on the smash factor.
The main thing is that I now have a much better ball flight which before was very low. I did double check with the fitter on shafts and he said the other shafts available on the R11 were more Tour preferred which wouldn’t help my ball flight.
Also managed to get it from the Belfry shop and cost £299 which is the standard price. Just a shame I missed the Direct Golf deal but least I know that it suits my game.
I must add after always having my doubts over Nike and golf I hit the Machspeed and allow it didn't suit my game the feel off the face was very good as was the Hawk.
