Played a nine hole comp today and said to PP. I am playing back nine but not using my driver. Off we went.
1st hole, bang down the middle, ?10 yd short of my normal drive but fairway split. 2 nd the same. Every hole bar 9th was down the middle. What's that all about. It was done by using the technique the guy at Ping showed me.
A couple of times I fluffed a pitch and my PP said have another go. It was nice playing a practice round and seeing most of it come off.
on our eighth I nailed a drive which left me 158 to the front pin. I smashed a five iron ( normally I would hit my hybrid) and it hit the front of the green and ended up at the back of the green. I have never hit a five iron 180 yd.

when up at Ping I hit a few with the 3 wood. He said " the ball is to far back and I am hitting the ball with an open face causing the ball to fade right"

He then got me to place the ball ( further forward) about an inch back from where I place the ball on my drives (level with left ankle). He then said place the three wood behind the ball and let the head fall back causing the face to open, put your left hand on the grip so two knuckles are showing, lock your right hand in. when you downswing make sure you turn the head through the ball, which naturally seems to happen because of the grip. Head hits ball square and Bang.
Now when he explained that to me, especially when he told me to open the face. When hitting the ball previously with an open face caused it to fade right took some believing. But the proof is in the pudding. Works for me at the mo 😁👍

What was nice is PP who shot 42 points last week was on a real hot spell, then he got the shanks. It started affecting his driving. He was at his wits end. He plays off 15 and am not one for telling him what's what. But after another drive in which he hooked it massive. After he had stopped swearing I casually said " it looked like you had lost you balance at the top of your swing" He said "eh". He placed another ball on the floor and smashed it miles. He said " that's it, I never flexed my legs and was losing my balance, which was why the ball was going all over the place".
