That "Hamlet Moment"

last round on the first tee. we had to give way to a few four balls but one insisted we go first.[****] an audience. the lad goes first straight down the middle his mate next ditto i step up and being 20 years older and kitted out slightly better i feel eyes burning in to me. step up and slice it so badly it went further right then forward.god has got a twisted sense of humour.

it can only be when you cream a drive up the middle on a par 5 then wait for the green to clear(because you can reach it)and smash the ball "50" yards.i can't be the only one for this to happen to.

Serves you right for thinking birdie. you should be concentrating on where you want your shot to land not what score you want!!! then let the score talk for itself

How often do we putt for a birdie and end up with a bogie? Don't you just hate that.

Yes especially when the birdie putt is a 6fter

It has to be either greenside chipping (gone mentally at the moment - brain goes into meltdown and I try and think about it - even if I just go up to it take a practice swing and play it is no better - all in the brain)

I hate hitting the big clunking fat shot too especially when the course is slow and the group behind are waiting for you to repair your divot clean your club head and trundle all of 20 yards to hopefully hit a better one

Agree with the comments of itsmetiger. Hate it when I hit a great drive, stand there waiting for a green to clear anticipating a birdie put at least only to then bury my club head in the ground and move the balls about 30 yards.

but that doesn't work either. follow the pro's advice, visualize the shot seeing in your mind's eye it soaring majestically off the tee into an azure sky taking a smooth fade/draw to land plumb in the centre of the fairway. then making a majestic strike only for the ball to catch the branch of the tree on the corner that you didn't even notice!
