Thanks for the invite to play at Wokefield, much appreciated. Sorry Sawtooth and I had to give you guys such a thrashing!

I've threatened my putter that next time it performs so lame it's going to be left on the hard shoulder of M4!

Wouldn't mind seeing the back 9 of that course as I thought the front 9 was excellent. Doc17 was hitting it beautifully and Sawtooth was verging on banditry at one stage before remembering he's playing off 11 and subsequently took his foot off the gas (obviously waiting for a forum meet with big prizes!)

In the end you guys deserved the win, ANY team that holes 4,967yards of putts deserves the win!

On the plus side I was pleased that my 'Bubba' swing didn't perform too badly,.... and the drive home was quick LOL

Thanks for the game guys, really enjoyed it, nice golf and great company. I'll remember Doc17 taking that photo on the last hole forever!!!!!

The match was very tight with only one hole ever separating the 2 teams until the very end when we clinched a 2 & 1 victory thanks to some inspired putting.

Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to complete the full 18 thanks to some really slow 4 balls ahead of us, so when we finished the 9th, we started at the 1st again and did the front 9 twice; 16 holes in the light, 1 in the dark and one in the pitch black!!

The dark couldn't hide the quality however, and there was some inspired golf on show, despite the greens being a little slow and bobbly and it took a while to get the pace.

The photos show just how dark it was when we decided to play the last hole just for a laugh!!

I've played there many times and the back nine is arguably the much tougher. In the summer they use to let the rough grow very long which made driving a premium although it also slowed pace of play right down. I like Wokefield but it is very slow at all times seemingly which is a shame as it has a great practice area and some good holes.

Not sure about playing in the dark. I can't tell where my ball is going to go even when I can see the blooming thing so sending it out into the yonder would need a miracle to find it again

Nice write up and good to see that a complete lack of daylight wasn't enough to stop GM forummers playing golf.

I've played Wokefield a few times. Nice layout, but tough. The back 9 has plenty of water but I think it is the changes of elevation with quite a few shots to elevated greens that make it hard. Always found the greens a bit dissappointing as although they are large and undulating they never seem as quick and true as I feel they could be. All in all it's a good track and one I'm happy to go back to but I have yet to score well there. The last is a good hole and well worth playing even in the dark.
