Texas Scramble Tomorrow

I've always found when playing Texas Scramble that it is best to have the highest handicap player going first, and the lowest off last. Seems to always work well when we've done it that way as the first off has the least pressure on them - and with putts it gives the lower handicap player a good idea of the line and pace.

Good luck - always a great laugh!

Cheers RGD.

I wondered if may be we had missed a trick with the tactics. Can see now that it would happen on those holes where you can be too long or the angle of the approach is important.

We've got a 4 man scramble just before christmas. the last one was won with a 57!!!
Thoroughly enjoyable format.

Incidently, last comp off the normal tees yesterday, it's mats & fairways until spring from Monday
Saved the best for last. 2 man better ball medal, 3/4 H/cap. Me and my pardner came in with nett 60. Why's it taken all season to play a decent round? Was leading when we left the clubhouse with about 6 groups still out.

Unfortunately we only play this once a year in December and its mixed. Last year we had a lady join our group who was a very nice lady but crikey her best drive went about 90 yards as she was about 90 herself (not joking). Tough going into the par 3's with woods for 2nd shots :D

We play a few comps like this with our lady members, always good fun. Normally they try and even up the handicaps, any way one of our better players (6h/c) gets me (25h/c) and a 70+ lady member playing off 30+, but we only had to use 3 of her drives.
To make her feel that she was contributing we let her take all the putts first, seem to remember her sinking a 25 foot putt on our SI 1 hole.

Funny enough I'm representing the club this coming Sunday in a mixed greensome. Another good format I enjoy.
