So, I have just started playing again after a year off and went to Nefyn Golf Club today as I have some time off before starting my new job. Was just my 2nd round after starting playing again.

First couple of drives I hit were great, decent length and fairly straight. Then the next several drives were much worse, hooks, slices you name it!! Overall though I was playing quite well (for me)!

At the 17th I decided to tee it a bit lower, just to try it out. Normally I use a grey castle tee but I used a pink castle tee which I guess is about a cm lower at most, straight away it just suited my eye at address. Hit a cracking drive with a slight draw, happy days!

The 18th (old course) is a 275 yard par 4, severley uphill towards the clubhouse, normally I would have laid up but after having hit a good drive on the last I got my driver out and teed up with the pink castle tee. It felt like a nice easy swing, was just concentrating on making good contact, again a nice draw and it landed parallel but to the left of the green, it bounced on a little but was left a short chip onto the green, then 1 putted for birdie.

I have never been a long hitter, 220-240 carry at best! I must have carried it 270 uphill! How could lowering the tee a bit mean I get such a better hit? ............. or was it just a fluke???

Dunno, but I'm off to buy some pink castle tees!!! My mate is a decent driver (averages 250 yards and is pretty accurate) and swears by these tees.

don't know about 'teeing it lower' - by this logic you should try white, then blue, and be nailing it of the red and orange.......

however, the pink castle tee seems to work for most, including me, in terms of teeing height for a driver.

I mainly use Pink and it pretty much suit most conditions. I hit Driver pretty low - from a couple of years on links.

If I want to get a higher flight, I'll use a grey tee.

Biggest problem with grey tees is the difficult to find them! Pink ones are pretty easy to find.

I don't use a driver but pick up loads of pink castles and hand them out to people I play with who I know use them. I know loads that swear by them.

I hardly come across any silver ones, does that say something about the preferred height of the masses or, are the silver ones easier to see?

Ye its strange.

I think it made me hit it with a more sweeping motion because it is lower, with the grey tees I was really trying to hit the ball on the up, if that makes sense.

Hope these pink tees work for me as 50 just arrived today!! 😃😃

50!!, They'll last you a life time, they are plastic you know, you won't snap any in half on each drive :) Although I do see the odd one broken but not many.

My mate uses the white castles, i've had a go a few times but can't get on with them. Just looked and the pinks have a 40 mm step and having just measured where i place my tee on my Bee's Tees its the same, 40mm.

May invest next time as i go through wooden tee's like no ones buisness.

I use wooden tees, can get a pack of 150 for 3 quid, those castles cost a pound for 20!!!!

I know im a cheapskate :mmm:

I noticed at the Pro-Am that .ost of the Pros were teeing up no more than an inch and a half for the driver.
Maybe because the current drivers are not as deep in the face as they were a few years ago...
Tried it yesterday and had one of my best driving days for many a moon...

I use the pinks as they offer me consistency. I found with wooden tees, I never got it the same height twice.

Am I the only person that really struggles to see the pink tees on the grass after a shot?!?

No you won't be. I read somewhere that however good your eye sight, there is some phenomena that when pink or red lands or is against green, you don't immediately see it, even though it may be right in front of you!

I'm sure there is something in it as how many times don't you see the tee only for someone to point it out to you right their below your feet!

One of the lads I play with has an orange tee tied to his pink tee wit string about 1ft long. He has used the same 2 tees for at least 2 years that I know of as it doesn't fly far and you'll always see one of them
