TaylorMade Repetitive Strain injuries

I am looking forward to the TP version of these. Not sure I'll be bothering to try the standard models. Wasn't blown way with them when I saw them. I'm hoping the smaller TP head will be more pleasing to my eye

Not happy with the I25's ?

I didn't notice any difference in thickness/size etc between my i20 and the RSI 2

There's a smaller TP version due out in 2015 with a thinner top line
i know that, but by saying the smaller head would be more pleasing to your eye you are surely inferring that your own i25's are not pleasing to your eye ... all I'm saying is that your happy with the i25 size then the RSi 2 would also be acceptable to you.

I get what you're saying. I still have my old TM TP's (2008) and love the smaller head but prefer the forgiveness I get of the I25's and can overlook the bigger head. What I'm interested in seeing is if these new TP's give me the forgiveness (their whole tag line) with a more aesthetic look

For years the manufacturers have been adding weight to iron perimeters, now they are taking it away again. I wonder what the next great "golfing invention" will be?

Because it doesn't matter how fancy your kit is. If you do not know how to get round a course, ie course management, then you will still shoot crap scores.

i have a set of Titleist Acushnet Pro 100 blades with a set of MacGregor Persimmon woods in the garage. I am more than confident I could shoot rounds the same as with my JPX, only difference is not as often. I think that is what modern clubs are doing for us, enabling us to play more consistently because they let you get away with a crap swing.

So it doesn't matter how fancy your kit is....but fancy kit gives you more consistency.

what I'm saying is fancy kit is not necessarily going to drop your handicap, but be more consistent off your current handicap. A poster on this thread is a prime example, (I'm not having a dig at you). I've been on the forum for 3 years and in that time I've have lost count of how many sets of irons he has used. Just gone from G25 to i25 and now talking of looking at the TM RSI TP.

Has he see a reduction in handicap? Has he become a more consistent golfer though? I believe he was a 12 handicapper when I first starting coming on here and he still is now.

As long as you are currently using a set of clubs that is suitable for your standard and correctly fitted, not someone who doesn't hit the ball very well trying to play with blades, then changing your clubs is not going to make a slight bit of difference IMO.

I changed from my MP33 blades to the JPX Pro as I needed a new set anyway and wanted to try something a bit more forgiving. My best round against SSS is still 3 shots better with the blades than the JPX, but I would say my average score has improved as I can get away with a miss-hit now. Rather than one coming out of the toe end and seeing it drop 2 clubs short, it now barely drops a club short.

If your going to make veiled statements have the courtesy to be accurate. 14 handicap when I came on here and got as far as 10. Went backwards in 2013 (not a great season) and hence the change to the G25 from the TM TP's I'd used for a number of years before that. Only just ticked over to 12 (11.7) so one good round and I'm back off 11. Bit of a knee jerk reaction and I should have held fire but who can resist the lure of a shiny new club and although the G25 gave me everything I needed in terms of forgiveness I really couldn't get past the chunky look on the shorter clubs when chipping. Vanity? Undoubtedly but I made a good price on moving the G25 on and so the I25's didn't make too much of a dent in the wallet

All I said, was I'd be interested in looking at the new RSI TP as I really do prefer a smaller head than even the I25. It's not a committment to buy. I love trying any new kit. Even hit a Yonex or two last week and that's a brand I vowed I'd never use and enjoyed doing so and was actually pleasantly surprised.

No point making sly posts. If you're going to refer to me, do so. Most on here know who you're talking about so why the need to be so mysterious

I've only been on here since November 2011 so can only comment from then, but I'm sure you were off 12 then. Surely those 2 quotes I have used say that you want to get the RSI and you are hoping that they will be the holy grail that will get your handicap down. This season you changed to the G25 as you fealt you needed some more forgiveness to help you gain consistency, which going from a set of TM TPs will always bring. Then you changed to the i25 because you wanted a smaller head and now you sound as if you are hoping that the new RSI TP will give you plenty of forgiveness but in a compact head. That to me sounds like you are thinking about getting another set of clubs, if you can find the right ones.

i don't care what you do with your money or your time, I was just using you as an example to back up what I was saying.

I saw the RSi2 irons today, and they look the same as the SLDR irons, but with more forgiveness. Slots on the face not that noticeable and they are filled in with black rubber by the looks of them. Could be tempted.:mmm:

Nope, as I said just enjoy hitting different clubs. If there's something out there (not necessarily TM) that's better and more pleasing to my eye then why not. As for now I'll look at them with an open mind and no intention to buy

So, I've made a couple of slightly sarcastic comments about these RSI irons but now Im being serious.
The sole slot, as far I can see, is to help boost speed from a ball hit low on the face - I can kind of see the logic behind that, as well as having the face slots to boost off centre hits.
But why are there no slots at all on the 9 and PW, and only face slots on the 8..?
Is there some fundamental reason why a 9 iron or wedge can't be hit off then toe or heel?
Cant thy also be hit low on the face?

Have TM explained this and I've just missed it or are they skipping the issue..?

If these slots do what they are suggesting I want to know why the other irons don't have the same .
