Hi,

Played last week and found one of these balls on the 2nd hole in the semi-rough - brand new and still shiny.

I decided to play with it from the 3rd and was very impressed. Plays like a ProV1 really and very good feel off the face when chipping and putting.

I know very little about this ball but would not hesitate to buy them. Really nice to play with.

Anyone use them and find the same or disagree?

Snelly.

I have a mate who swears by them. They're expensive though which puts me off buying a dozen. Might try a sleeve sometime.
For £30 the pro V1/V1x balls are the great value ball (IMHO) at the top end.

Same as you Snelly, found a good condition one and used it for a couple of rounds.

Didn't notice it to be any different to the ProV and certainly didn't think it was better so will stick with what I know.

Agreed - didn't think it was better than a Prov1 either but a nice ball all the same. I guess I was pleasantly surprised having never heard of them before I found it.

Recieved a sleeve of 3 from jezzE at beau desert, they went 2 yards shorter thean a ProV1 and they dont float either.
A different feel on the pitch though as being a 5 part ball they are only for the real hard hitters.
still have 1 in the bag but would rather play the ProV1.

contrast to other opinions i prefer it to the prov1, played at tilgate in the summer and found one like new. was playing with a prov1 at the time and hit into the par 5 from about 100 yards (think its the 11/12th) and the ball didnt check at all. dropped the penta and with the same strike and power played a identical shot which was pitch & stop. a fantastic ball but ......

A) at 35 a dozen i can buy 3 dozen dx3's
B) i noticed a small smount of distnace loss
c) i would only use them in baked conditions

At the time i was playing in a purple patch of my game, shooting some single fiqure rounds, and i still dont thing my game was strong enough to get the best from this ball.

DX3 all the way!

I have conducted extensive testing on the Taylor Made Penta and found it to be extremely poor.

A friend of mine gave me a Penta to try out on the 15th tee.

The ball sliced horribly straight into a field and was never seen again.

They are, obviously, rubbish. Avoid.

I thought they were good balls.

Seem to launch a little higher than the Pro V1x with a lot of spin which makes them ballon more.

Good control around the greens, better than any Srixon out atm.

Not bad but still like the Pro V1x in summer.

I wish I was of the standard to be able to judge a ball as being better than one or another... I can tell that a ProV1 is better than a Topflite or a Pinnacle but that's about it. As long as they are round then they are all the same to me.

To me, they come in two types, hard and soft. I guess there could be a third type, stupid soft (Wilson DX2). I don't like hard balls, so avoid anything made by Spalding. Topflights, Molitors and Callaway for instance.
Other than that, I find cheaper balls get shredded by my irons.
I had an AD333 the other day (one I had scribbled on), and some sort of laquer started peeling off it mid round. Not impressed.

I tend to stick with ProV1s out of habit. That, and the fact that I have loads of them.
