Today was the first time I felt that the course was nearing the summer conditions. Several holes I had at least an extra 30 to 40 yards of role. I think I am now aiming at single figures, it was going to be 12 however my last 5 rounds have all been to 12 or better.

The true target would be to become a scratch golfer and maybe enter some major tournaments as an amateur because the course at augusta looks fantastic and it would be a dream to play there.

What are your 'realistic' targets?

Before the start of the season I was hoping to get down to 8 maybe 7. I was playing well, striking it well, and most importantly, scoring well. Then had to work away for 5 weeks, and last 2 rounds have dented my hopes, shot 91 in the medal on saturday and then 27 points yesterday!! Ok, so yesterday, the weather was appauling, and if it weren't an open, the course would have been shut, but still disappointed.
Ultimately, I would ike to get to low single figures and play for the scratch team at the gc..

As posted yesterday. My targets this year are to;

1. Get involved in more club comps. (even medals!!!)
2. Find more time to practice and play.
3. Hopefully get my handicap down.
4. Above all, enjoy my golf! ;)

I lay my two targets out in the blog about reaching single figures and winning an honours board event. Evaluating after a quarter of the year (where did that go) I'm cautiously optimistic about single figures still but I'm struggling to find any sort of repetitive swing and make an impression in competitions. My handicap has even crept up from 11 to 12.

I'm not going to change my target. I've a session with a golfing psychologist in a few weeks which is something I've really been looking forward to and hope he'll be able to create some strong images particularly around my iffy short game. Once the lighter nights really get here I'm not going to hit as many balls as I did in 2008 (over practiced the long game) or concentrate on the short game as much as last year. I'm going to try and get as many holes in as I can and not worry too much about score or technique

Single figures is my aim, 1.9 left after a good start to the year and the season has only just really started. Just had another lesson tonight and feeling good about the season

Well mine was single figures but after carding a 86, 79 and 81 I have been given 8 as a handicap. So now I want to try to stay in single figures and find some consistency. If I can shoot a few more sub 80 rounds then that will be fine for me.
Ultimately I want to be a scratch golfer so maybe a 2-3 year target is more realistic but who knows.

I am never going to be a scrach golfer to old to late no talent.

Need .8 off to go back down to nine so thats my target.

I'd be more than happy getting my handicap down to the low teens. Just need to get my other two cards in and take it from there. The course is now starting to play better and the ball is getting more roll so we'll see.

Don't take this the wrong way fella's but dont big up the single figues thing to much, there is only a shot between 9 & 10 just like 11 & 12.

I don't like to set to many targets as they only add pressure.

I'm not necessarily 'bigging' it up, but it's a milestone imo, and a good thing to aim for.

There's only 1 shot between 100 & 99, or 80 & 79, etc but they are also things people aim for :)

Well, at the start of the year it was to get below 100 and I had a 97 last Friday. My handicap has been calculated at 24 so my next milestone is to get that below 20. Should be achievable as my putting is terrible and I hope I could take ten shots off if I have fewer 3 (and more) putts ;)

Even if I don't i'll still enjoy myself and get a bit of exercise :)

my 1st traget for the year is to break 110 (I only took up golf in Jan). I think I can achieve this in the next few months with lessons and lots of practice, after which my aim is to get to 100 & actually play to a 28 h/c.

If I'm being picky, it's only 0.1 between 9 & 10 but personally I think you belittle the achievement by looking at it like that.

I agree it's a milestone like any of the other milestones we set ourselves through our golfing lives. There is always 'just one shot' if you look at it like that.

For me it's a big personal target and when I get there, I may very well big it up for a while before setting my sights on my next target :)
