I have been working on my swing for a whole month since posting my last 'swing vision' thread. And i have made some serious improvements.

Thank you to everyone who commented on the last one. Please do the same with the one attached below:

For some reason its only the rear view this time (not sure why???) but i still think you can see the machanics of the swing.

Golf is not a game - its an obsession

To my relatively untrained eye the posture seems a little too upright and you look to be taking it inside a fraction early. From looking at it several times it seems there is a slight over the top cast but your hand and arms work well to keep the club pretty square through impact.

I'd prefer to see you with your legs slightly more bent and your stance more over the ball so the back is straighter (think of yourself sitting on the edge of a bar stool). The takeaway needs to be a little flatter to the ground to create the width and the legs get a bit active in the backswing.

That said I don't see anything there to suggest you should be off 28. That is the swing of a much better player. The things I have said are really more subtle tweaks but that swing looks pretty tidy

Mickey, can I ask how far you hit a 5 iron?
Your swing doesnt seem to have much commitment, you stay very upright and your left arm never makes it above hip height, less digging, more swinging.
If you can give a bit more turn and give the ball a little more welly, that is definately a swing to hold onto.

Mick,it is way better than your handicap suggests.

All the same faults there as last time tho.

Way way inside on the way back means you must go over the top on the way forward.

Look at your posture and the right knee in particular.

You need a fulcrum to rotate around and to keep the clubnead outside your hands on the way back.

take away too flat

hands need to be higher at the top

swing is a little too compact and will probably lack a bit of rhythm and a lot of club head speed

club face is qute closed throughout the swing despite the flat plane

the plane at which you swing down is very good its how you want the back swing to be,

you lift your spine angle up a touch in backswing

try hinging your wrists earlier in the backswin1

hip and shoulder turn on the way back through is ok but the hands need to lag up a bit more....
would like to see a bit more body facing the target at impact

impact position is ok but would prefer to see the right foot off the ground a touch

Nice high finish

hope this helps!!

hey micky long time no see my friend , looks like you have been working hard on that swing , much better than when we played a few weeks ago , keep it up buddy ,

see ya soon

Hi Micky

Dont know if you saw my reply to you in your last thread re joining a club (have a look)

The Swing

Homer and Brendy are spot on in what they say although i personaly like to see people stand up to the ball with a little flex in their knees bottom out a bit like Homer says.

You definatly open your hands lots of people confuse this with the hinge of the wrist. opening the hands will course the club and hands to get behind you hence the tendency to come over the top, the reason why you dont get the club higher than your shoulders is because you dont complete your turn.

When the club is at the nine o'clock position the toe of the club should be pointing up not behind. from there on there are two main movments one is the hinge of the wrists "think" thumbs up and the turn of the shoulders."think" left shoulder behind the ball.

Now at the top of you back swing you should be feeling in a much stronger coil postion more so in your left side.

The downswing should start in sequence feet, legs, hips.everyting above the hip trunk and arms comes through together with the arms feeling passive.

To help stop the club head being taken behind.Try to feel that you take the whole club away and that your arms and hands stay in front of your chest.

Looks much better, however, you are still coming over the top on the downswing, I had this problem it’s a real pain to get rid off.

Tense. Relax a bit mate. How tight are you gripping the club. Try making some easy swings just holding onto it and not thinking about anything but commiting confidently through the ball. If it's going all over the place now then you've nothing to lose.

Everything the others said about too quick inside and your posture is true and I think it's stemming from over complicating and thinking too much about fundamentals.

If you keep your grip pressure light, start back by just taking your relaxed hands straight back LOW to the ground, BUt not over doing it, and stay relaxed you'll see improvement. You can't turn if you're tense.

Check out this guy for a decent set-up routine that'll mean you get in dynamic balance every time. It's the best routine there is. Tracy Reeds Setup Routine

Cheers everyone, i have just flown back into Manchester and the first thing i do is check this message board (and drink a glass of wine), crazy.

Yes i'm probably a little tense. I do worry alot at my lesson when on camera. I think that my backswing is a little flat and i am stood up too much. Hopefully my swing is like a fine wine and will improve with age! :D

I'm definately getting better because it feels more fluid but i'm after perfection and thats why i put my swing up on the board, for constructive critism.

Doh, if you didnt see my response - i'm defo up for a round mate. just give me a PM and we can sort it out. i'm playing at Reddish Vale on monday - hopefully the hill wont kill me!
