swing speed shaft advice

Craw and Ethan are bang on IMO.

Just wanted to add my 2p worth that I'm surprised a pro would offer an opinion that flex ratings are all the same. That really should be the last fitting based conversation you have with him.

If he doesn't know, that's a very poor show. If he does know but decided not to take the time to discuss with you and explain, that's an equally poor show. Avoid.

You are in that middle ground between R and S, though it doesn't seem like a great session - only 5 swings and no warm-up!

It's possible that Pro was mis-quoted. If you have an 'early release', which can be the case at any swing speed, then shaft flex isn't anywhere as significant as for someone with a 'late release'.

I was/am pretty much that speed and was originally fitted (10 years ago) for a low-torque R - with a disclaimer about possible effects. Shaft felt so comfy I started going after it with consequent 'high rights' from loss of control. Shaft replaced free of charge for slightly more stable low torque soft-ish S. Still playing soft S. Played R when swing speed dropped (broken ankle) but that feels too soft now. I'm a smooth/flowing rhythm late-releaser with Driver.

well i went for a round on my own this morning and bought x2 ping drivers one with rip phenom 50 regular and one with ping anser driver with mitsubishi diamana 'ahina 70 stiff. the slice was worst with the regular and the stiff shaft was a joy to use. i played x2 balls off the tee one with each driver. Stiff shaft was longer and straighter..

Does longer and straighter mean longer and on the fairway, or longer and not as deep in the cabbage?
