I've used swingsmart a bit and did some testing of swingbyte 1 for the guys that make it. I tested it against both a GC2, a Flightscope and high speed video (they had got some numbers wrong in the early release which I pointed out to them hence being asked for further feedback..... ). These devices are pretty good for giving you the shape of your swing and swing path is obviously part of that. They're not so good at face angle as it's nigh on impossible for the kit to accurately predict shaft torque given the myriad of variables that affect it.

If you want to use one to see your swing shape in 3D or to see where in the swing you are accelerating the club (great for stopping casting etc) they are not bad at all. What they don't really do all that well is tell you where the ball would have gone as the difference between a nice little draw and a push fade can just be the torque you're putting on the shaft and where in the swing you're applying it which affects the club face angle.
